The Last: Naruto the Movie is the tenth overall Naruto film, made to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the franchise. This is also the first entry in the Start of a New Era Project, and the first film to be an official part of the canon Naruto storyline, set between Ch. 699 and 700 of the original manga series.
The Last premiered in theaters on December 6, 2014. The film became the highest-grossing feature film in the franchise before being surpassed by its sequel, Boruto: Naruto the Movie.
Synopsis
Two years after the events of the Fourth Shinobi World War, Kakashi Hatake became the Sixth Hokage, and the moon that Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki created long ago to seal away the Ten-Tails' body begins to descend towards Earth, with the moon now a meteor that would destroy everything on impact. The crisis is caused by Toneri Ōtsutsuki, a descendant of Hamura Ōtsutsuki through the Branch House, dedicated to fulfill his ancestor's legacy that mankind must be punished for using chakra as weapon hostilities for over a millennia.Actors

A mysterious group of ninja called the Sora from the Sky Country makes a surprise attack on the Leaf for vengeance, due to them nearly destroying the Sky Country, during the Second Great Shinobi World War. At the same time, Naruto, Sakura and Hinata are sent along to help a boy's village. They accompany Amaru and Doctor Shinnō back to the village. The film opens with Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno watching a film starring Yukie Fujikaze, in a local cinema. Kakashi Hatake has summoned them to watch it as preparation for their next mission: to prevent Yukie, who plays Princess Gale in the films, from being captured during production of her latest film. Yukie is later revealed to be Koyuki Kazahana, a princess from an island known as the Land of Snow. Doto Kazahana, who is revealed to be Koyuki's uncle, was responsible for the murder of her father Sosetsu in a coup d'etat. During the shooting of the film, Doto's henchmen, wearing Chakra armor, attempt to capture the princess, but Team 7 manages to delay the princess from being captured. Doto eventually captures Koyuki and kills her bodyguards, who reveal themselves in an attempt to protect and restore her rightful place as the ruler of the Land of Snow. Naruto enters the ship to rescue the princess, only to be captured and forced to wear a chakra-draining device. Doto forces Koyuki to hand over a crystal necklace her father had given her when she was young, thinking that this is a key that can unlock the hidden treasure Sosetsu had left behind before detaining both Koyuki and Naruto.

Assigning on a mission to capture a missing-nin named Mukade, Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno, Yamato and Sai wield chakra-knives, which are uniquely designed trench knives that allow a ninja to infuse their chakra with it to produce an added effect. They head for the once glorious historic ruins of Rouran, a city with one thousand towers in the middle of the desert. They pursue and corner Mukade, whose goal is revealed to travel to the past and take over the Five Great Shinobi Countries with the power of the Ryūmyaku (the Ley Line in official English translation), an ancient chakra flow deep underground Rouran. He unleashes the power of the Ryūmyaku, which is sealed by Minato Namikaze (who was well known as Konoha's yellow flash), causing the light to engulf Naruto and Yamato, before Sai and Sakura rides on an ink bird and attempt to escape.

Naruto Uzumaki and his Hidden Leaf peers track and drive off members of the Akatsuki who should no longer be alive. While his friends are praised by their families, Naruto wallows in loneliness before he is taken by Sakura Haruno to the park to hear her complain about her parents. However, Naruto revealed to have been tagged by the Akatsuki, the two are ambushed by Tobi as he uses the Limited Tsukuyomi (限定月読, Gentei Tsukuyomi) to transport them into an alternate reality based on their inner thoughts. Being called Menma (メンマ), Naruto and Sakura are surprised to find their friends acting the exact opposite of their usual selves along with a flirty Sasuke who never left the village. While Sakura learns that her parents are dead with her father as the reality's Fourth Hokage, Naruto sees his parents, Minato and Kushina, alive and well. Shortly after, Naruto and Sakura participate in a mission to retrieve a Red Moon scroll which details on how to defeat a mysterious masked ninja. During the mission, Kushina is injured when she protects Naruto and dissuades the youth's refusal to bond with his parents.

Naruto Uzumaki is arrested to the criminal containment facility known as Hoozuki Jou (鬼灯城, lit. "Physalis Castle") in the Hidden Grass Village, after he is declared responsible for attacking the Fourth Raikage and the members of Jōnin from the Hidden Mist and Rock Village. There, Mui (無為), the head of the prison, places the Tenrou o Tsukau (天牢を使う, lit. "Sky Prison Control") seal on Naruto which limits his chakra. On the first night, Naruto uses a clone as a decoy to escape from prison, but his clone is secretly taken by Mui to have the Nine-tailed beast's chakra extracted which leads him to the real Naruto, and he is shortly recaptured and placed in solitary confinement, before delaying Mui's plans.

The film opens with a battle taking place at night on a desolate seaside beach between Sand Ninja and mysterious warriors wearing bulky suits of armor. Despite their best efforts, the Sand Ninja are slowly overwhelmed by the sheer strength of their mysterious opponents. The timely arrival of reinforcements led by Kankuro and Gaara turns the tide, with Kankuro slicing apart a suit of armor with his puppet, and Gaara dispatching a large number of enemies en masse with his signature Desert Imperial Funeral. However, when Gaara orders the Sand Ninja to shine a flare at the retreating enemies, a large warship appears.

Naruto Uzumaki, Kakashi Hatake, Sakura Haruno and Rock Lee are assigned to protect the prince of the Land of the Moon, Michiru, during his world trip; other escorts had been hired, but quit due to being treated poorly. The Land of the Moon is a very wealthy nation, so Michiru tends to buy whatever he wants and has a very materialistic worldview. His son, Hikaru, also acts in much the same manner, annoying Naruto. During the trip, the caravan stops at a circus, during which Hikaru shot an apple that was in one of the circus acts. Amused, the ring master said if he can hit the apple with the monkey holding it moving he will get a prize. Hikaru made the shot. Hikaru took a liking to a rare sabertoothed tiger, Chamu, featured there, so he asked for it. The ringmaster claimed it to big and dangerous to take as a prize. Michiru ended up purchasing not only the saber toothe, but the whole circus as well, placing it under the team's protection. Before heading to the docks, they stop at the house of Michiru's ex-wife Amayo. At the docks, Hikaru attempts to befriend the tiger, but finds that it dislikes humans. He loses interest in the circus and during a sea voyage, when a storm hits, he appears unconcerned about the animals' well-being, causing Naruto to become disgusted at his lack of value for them. Upset by Naruto's view of him, Hikaru goes out to help Chamu get to safety, and Naruto saves both of them after they wash overboard. The next day, Naruto and Hikaru become friends.
