Stephen Chow déclare qu'il ne s'agit pas d'une suite à son film King of Comedy (1999), mais d'une version féminine. Il raconte en effet l'histoire d'une femme rêvant de devenir actrice. Bénéficiant d'un petit budget de moins de 7 millions $ et sans effets numériques, le film est tourné en mandarin et sort le 5 février 2019, le jour du Nouvel An chinois. Il récolte 76 millions $ dès la première semaine.
Synopsis
Rêvant de devenir une star de cinéma, une femme (E Jingwen ), plus toute jeune et au physique médiocre, travaille dur depuis des années mais n’a toujours pas réussi à dépasser les rôles d'une journée. Son père et sa famille lui mettent une pression énorme pour la convaincre de renoncer à cette idée. Seul son petit ami Charlie croît en elle. Sur un plateau de cinéma, elle rencontre l'acteur Marco, son idole d'enfance, mais il est aujourd'hui fatigué et sa faible estime de lui l'a rendu maniaco-dépressif. Il la tourmente sans relâche mais la jeune femme continue de faire son travail avec enthousiasme, jusqu'à ce qu'elle finisse finalement par ne plus pouvoir supporter les échecs et décide d'abandonner, de retourner chez ses parents et de trouver un emploi stable. Puis, peu après, elle reçoit un appel pour lui annoncer qu'elle a réussi une audition pour le rôle principal dans la superproduction Blanche-Neige d'un réalisateur célèbre.Comments

Le moine Tang Sanzang (Kris Wu) arrive dans une ville en Inde, précédé de sa réputation. Son maître le félicite d'être arrivé jusqu'en Inde et d'avoir retrouver les Sutras, et lui donne une auréole en récompense. Cette auréole, cependant, fonctionne mal et Tang se réveille dans un village d'artistes de cirque avec ses trois disciples : Sun Wukong (Lin Gengxin ), Zhu Bajie (Yang Yiwei), et Sha Wujing (Mengke Bateer). Tang encourage Sun Wukong à se produire devant les villageois, mais celui-ci refuse. Insistant, il énerve Sun Wukong en l'insultant de « mauvais singe » et ce-dernier se met à ravager le village. Les villageois terrifiés offrent alors au groupe de l'argent et de la nourriture pour continuer leur voyage, mais Sun Wukong continue de faire des ravages, propulsant Zhu Bajie et Tang dans les airs. Le soir venu, Tang fouette Sun Wukong pour sa désobéissance.

Princess Pearl of Flowerland is sent to Midland at a young age to learn her ceremonials duties. Her mother, the Queen Mother misses her daughter very much that the King orders his sister, the princess, to return home. However, the princess has fallen in love with General Wing of the Midland army and is reluctant to part from him. As their boat approaches the Flowerland border, Pearl and Wing save the life of a girl named Ying, who threw herself into the sea in order to escape an arranged marriage. As the boat arrives on shore, General Wing and his troops along with Pearl continue on their journey, leaving the still unconscious Ying on the boat. Shortly thereafter, they are attacked by pirates and Pearl falls into the ocean in the ensuing chaos. Princess Pearl washes ashore within the Flowerland kingdom and is saved by a man named Million, who is revealed to be Ying's father.

In Shanghai during the 1930s, Sing and his friend Bone attempt to join the Deadly Axe Gang which ruthlessly control the city under leadership of Brother Sum. Sing seeks to restore his confidence after being humiliated as a young boy while trying to protect a mute girl from bullies, due to the failure of the Buddhist Palm method he had learned from a pamphlet he bought from beggar. Sing and Bone attempt to intimidate the residents of Pig Sty Alley but are chased off by its Landlady. Hearing of this, Sum orders Sing and Bone captured, while sending the Gang to reassert its authority from the humiliation. Three of the tenants, Coolie, Fairy, and Donut, are revealed as martial arts masters and defeat more than fifty of the Gang. Fearing retribution, the Landlady evicts the three, but they meet a pair of hired assassins using a magical guqin to launch invisible blades. Coolie is beheaded, and Fairy and Donut are mortally wounded before the Landlady and her husband the Landlord reveal that they too are martial arts masters, having gone into self-exile after the death of their son. The two defeat the assassins but Fairy and Donut die from their wounds. The Landlords temporarily evacuate the other tenants for their safety.
