Christopher McCoy plays Sam Docherty, a boy who moves to Vermont with his family, hoping to make a fresh start away from the city. Synopsis
A Boston family decides to move to the country and begin a new life after their young son, Sam, is threatened by bullies. When the Docherty family reaches their new home, things aren't much better. The father, Gary, learns the job he has been promised has been given to a local, and there is a general dislike by the townspeople of the new city folk. Sam adopts a dog and the daughter Courtney finds a new boyfriend, Judd. Things improve for the family, but it is not until Sam commits a daring act of bravery that the Docherty family is finally accepted in their new community.Actors

Howie Blitzer is deeply affected by the death of his mother in a car accident on the Long Island Expressway. His situation is exacerbated by his acrimonious relationship with his distant father Marty, who brought a trophy girlfriend into the house less than a month after his wife's death. Howie's only solace is the company of his best friend Gary, a juvenile delinquent and hustler. Although Gary is attracted to Howie, Howie is unsure of his own sexuality. They have two other friends their age, one of whom has an incestuous relationship with his sister. The four boys routinely break into neighborhood houses.

In the early 1950s, world-renowned film maker John Wilson (Eastwood), travels to Africa for his next film bringing with him a young writer chum named Pete Verrill (Jeff Fahey). While there, he becomes obsessed with hunting elephants while neglecting the preparations for the film. This leads to a conflict between the men on several levels, most notably over the idea of killing for sport such a grand animal. Even Wilson concedes that it is so wrong that it is not just a crime against nature, but a "sin." Yet he cannot overcome his desire to bring down a giant bull, a "tusker" with massive ivory tusks. Wilson's final realization that his is a petty, ignoble pursuit comes at a late point and with a tragic price, as the local expert guide Kivu (Boy Mathias Chuma) is killed protecting him from an elephant Wilson decides not to shoot.
