The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh (Italian: Lo strano vizio della Signora Wardh; released as Blade of the Ripper in the United States) is a 1971 giallo murder mystery film directed by Sergio Martino. It is his first entry in the giallo subgenre. The letter "h" was added to the name "Ward" when an Italian woman named Mrs. Ward threatened legal action over the original title's potentially damaging her good name, just before the film was released.
The film was also known as Next! or The Next Victim.
Synopsis
Newly married to an older man, Julie returns to Vienna, where a razor wielding slasher is killing women. Jean, her cruel and sadistic former lover, immediately contacts her, certain that only he can satisfy her strange vice. But she rejects him. She also meets George, the handsome cousin of her friend Carol; both are newly rich, thanks to an uncle's death. Julie's husband Neil is away frequently, so George pours on the charm. Meanwhile, it seems that the slasher is now focused on Julie. Bodies pile up, other murders are barely avoided, and George invites her to go away with him. Can it end happily?Actors

Oliviero Rouvigny (Pistilli), a failed writer and an alcoholic, lives in a crumbling mansion with his wife Irina (Strindberg), who is scared of Oliviero's cat, Satan, that used to belong to his late mother. Une compétition de bateaux, disputée par les partenaires Marco et Burt, tourne mal lorsque la mécanique de l'un des navires s'enraye. Les deux hommes se jettent à l'eau mais Marco est gravement blessé. Grâce à une intervention chirurgicale au cerveau, autorisée par Burt et leur amie Terry, Marco se réveille mais il est désormais amnésique. Après l’opération, il revient chez lui où sa femme Monica, son ami Tommy et Terry s’occupent de lui. Mais l'atmosphère s'avère être pesante et oppressante. Marco se met à sentir des non-dits, comme si, avant l'accident, certaines choses avaient été laissées en suspens. Bientôt, il soupçonne même une présence. D'autres images défilent : des souvenirs qui ressurgissent jusqu'au tourment, d'autant que Monica se refuse sexuellement à Marco, ajoutant ainsi à sa confusion. Non loin de la demeure, le jardinier lui annonce anonymement qu'un complot se trame contre lui et qu'il souhaite en parler avec lui. Mais il est aussitôt assassiné à coups de couteau... Puis le commissaire annonce à Marco qu'il a été victime d'un sabotage lors de la course. Paranoïaque, découvre que son épouse Monica n'est pas étrangère à cette machination.
