Synopsis
Kamini Gupta (Manisha Koirala) and Vinod Gupta (Rajat Kapoor) with their two children are happy family. Vinod, a CEO of a multinational corporation is very busy and has no time for the family. He is unable to make it to his wedding anniversary, leaving Kamini all alone. A young photographer, Jatin Pandey (Karan Nath) gives her company. He takes her pictures, they dine and dance together. In the morning when she wakes up she finds herself in Jatin’s bed. Jatin now craves and burns for Kamini who is the forbidden fruit in his life, leading from passion to a dangerous obsession. One day Jatin is found murdered. Inspector Yusuf Malik (Aman Veram) takes the bizarre case. A murder trail with obsession and passion.Actors

Amar Kant Varma (Shahrukh Khan) is a Program executive for All India Radio. He is dispatched from New Delhi to cover festivities in Northeast India. On his way there, during a rainy night, Amar stops at Haflong train station to catch Baraks Valley express, as the train runs late, Amar meets a mysterious woman by herself who asks him for a cup of tea. When he returns with the tea, he watches her board the next train with three male passengers. Later, Amar spots the same woman in Silchar. He attempts to talk to her but she says she cannot recall meeting him before. As part of his news reporting assignment, for the occasion of fifty years of Indian Independence, Amar interviews many citizens of Barak Valley, and an extremist leader, who claim that the reason behind human rights violations, and poverty in the region is due to Indian Government, and that the Liberationists do not wish to enter into any dialogue with the government, and further justify their resistance in Utthar Purv.

Governor Jaisingh Sinha (Raj Babbar) is a popular and prominent political figure of the state, besides being well known as an upright person. One day, Gov. Sinha presides over a meeting on the issue of "Open Door Policy", a scheme which will pave the way for foreign companies to operate in India, by implementing usage of computer, industrial machinery etc. The meeting is attended by influential industrialist Meghnad Chaudhry (Dalip Tahil), Union leader Vilas Rao (Sharat Saxena) and minister Mantriji (Prem Chopra), among others. While Chaudhry is in favour of the policy because it would generate foreign investment in India, Vilas Rao strongly opposes the policy which would bring with it the unemployment of a large number of workers because of the utilization of computers and industrial machinery. The difference of opinion of Chaudhry and Vilas Rao leads to a heated argument between the two for which Gov. Sinha terminates the meeting without arriving at any decision on the policy.

"Chhuppa Rustam" is an action and suspense film with Sanjay Kapoor in a double role. One Sanjay (Nirmal) is an industrialist and the other (Raja) is a small time thief. The thief is in love with Manisha Koirala (Nisha) while the other Sanjay is in love with Mamta Kulkarni (Sandhia). Industrialist Sanjay's father is dead and he runs a huge tea plantation. Raj Babbar, the Commissioner of Police, notices the two Sanjay's and plans to place the thief at the industrialist's house and sell the property and take the money. The industrialist Sanjay finds out that his father was murdered. He sets out to look for the killer. The killer sets a trap for him. In the meantime, the thief takes his place. One Sanjay is killed and the other claims to be the industrialist. Which Sanjay survives is the mystery which is revealed in the end.

Guddu Bahadur (Shah Rukh Khan) is the only child in the Bahadur family, consisting of Advocate Vikram (Mukesh Khanna) and his wife, Kavita (Deepti Naval). He wants to donate his eyes to the hospital so Salina can benefit from them, but his dad will not even consider this. Things take a turn for the worse, when Guddu decides to go to court to assert his right to donate his eyes, his dad ends in the hospital and so does Guddu. Kavita couldn't bear the trauma of her husband's illness and her son's disease, thus she decides to devote herself to god for five days without drinking a sip of water. Her prayers get answered and her husband's life is saved and her son's operation is successful. She dies in the feet of god while praying and her eyes get donated to Salina. Salina and Guddu get married and are blessed with twins and they live happily ever after.
