Synopsis
Kashinath (Ajay Devgan) and Imli (Manisha Koirala) are childhood sweethearts and everyone expects them to marry. Then comes rich, wealthy, and sickly Anjali Chopra (Karishma Kapoor) into Kashinath's life, and then everything changes. Anjali gives up on her sickiliness and becomes bold, thanks to Kashinath's care. Anjali falls in love with Kashinath, and boldly tells her dad, Manmohan Chopra (Dalip Tahil), that she will only marry Kashinath. But her dad wants her to wed Ajit (Avinash Wadhawan). Imli reveals her secret that she has heart disease, and if not treated, she will die. Kashinath, unaware of Anjali's affections must find the money to save his true love.Actors

The story is about Raj (Akshay Kumar) & Ajay(Ajay Devgan) who are best friends studying in the same college. Pooja (Karisma Kapoor) & Madhu (Nagma) are their respective girlfriends. Raj is from a rich family. He stays with his uncle (Gufi Paintal) as his father (Dalip Tahil) lives in another town. Ajay Sharma was born on 2 April 1967 and lives in Bombay with his widowed mother Asha (Aruna Irani). Raj treats Ajay's mother as his own mother & they share a brotherly relationship. After graduating from college, Raj's maternal uncle asks Ajay to bring his birth certificate so that he can make his passport and find work for him in Canada. Ajay goes home to look for his birth certificate and finds out that his real name is Ajay Malhotra and his father, Dr. Ravi Malhotra (Romesh Sharma), is still alive, serving a life sentence in prison for stealing a patient's organs. Ajay questions his mother and finds out that his father was framed by the hospital owner, Rai Bahadur (Suresh Oberoi). Upon discovering the truth, Raj and Ajay go to fight Rai Bahadur & release his father. In the course of their investigation it is revealed that Raj's father whose name is Dr. Sinha (Dalip Tahil) also a key member of the Rai Bahadur's hospital & was involved in framing Ajay's father. Rai bahadur counterattacks by killing Raj's father before he could go to court. Then Raj and Ajay bring the corpse of Dr.Sinha in courtroom just before the deadline of time of case. They create an illusion that Dr. Sinha is still alive and by that they made corpse pointing finger at Rai bahadur. Angry Rai tries to shoots at him into the court. Then in the chase of police he got killed.

The film starts with a shabby old man living as a recluse near a famous temple. When he ventures out into the village, he is beaten by the shepherds who believes that he is a thief. When they hand him over to the police, the officer in charge identifies him as a once-famous musician, Anantha Rama Sharma (Mammooty), hailed as Sangeeta Samrat (Emperor of music), who has been missing for four years. Raja Babu (Govinda) is a poor orphan adopted by a wealthy village couple (Kader Khan and Aruna Irani). He is a typical country bumpkin, good-hearted but lacking in urban manners. His vanity, not discouraged by his mother's doting, leads him to have his photograph taken often at the village photo studio, each time in a different outfit. He is always accompanied by his sidekick Nandu, (Shakti Kapoor). Ranjit Rai (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) and Harbanslal (Dalip Tahil) are two wealthy business magnates who despise the poor. Thus, they decide their children, Ajay (Ajay Devgan) and Madhu (Juhi Chawla), will marry wealthy spouses.
