Palestine, 1200 ans avant J-C : Une révolte gronde au sein du peuple hébreu, sous le joug des philistins. Mais aucun homme n'est assez courageux pour devenir leur chef et organiser leur libération. En signe d'obéïssance au Seigneur, il ne faudra jamais lui couper les cheveux'... Plus tard, cet enfant appelé Samson devient célèbre, surtout lorsqu'il tue Mahal, le chef de l'armée philistine. Le Général TARIQ propose alors au Roi un plan pour se débarrasser de Samson. Dalila devra le séduire et découvrir le secret de sa force.
Dans le ghetto de Varsovie, Alex, onze ans, vit en compagnie de son père, Stefan, de son grand-oncle Boruch et d'une souris blanche: Neige. A stevedore in Thessaloniki, Greece, Salamo Arouch's passion is boxing. Captured along with his family and fiance Allegra in 1943 and interned in Auschwitz, Arouch is used by his SS captors as entertainment, forced to box against fellow prisoners. He knows that if he refuses, his family will be punished; if he wins, he will be given extra rations which he can share with them; if he loses, he will be sent to the gas chamber. As his family and friends die around him, he has only his love of Allegra and his grim determination to keep him alive.
A young Israeli soldier, Cohen, is kidnapped by a group of Palestinian fighters who hold him as a hostage during the conflict. The 1982 FIFA World Cup happens to be on during the invasion, and their mutual love of association football, and in particular the Italy national football team, helps break down the barriers of nationalism and the historical baggage that the two bring. A kind of alliance is forged between the two men. Their relationship heads for a tragic ending as the Italian team, along with the goal scoring Paolo Rossi, make their march toward winning the 1982 FIFA World Cup Final.
Sacha and Laura, who have been living in a kibbutz in Israel near the Syrian border for two years, are visited by three friends from Paris—Simon, Michel, and Paul—who have come to celebrate Laura's twentieth birthday. One of the friends, Simon, is obsessed by the death of the girl he loved. During the birthday celebration, he tries to find amongst his friends someone to blame for his love's death. Laura is the only one who knows that the young girl died of a broken heart. She also loved Sacha. The film ends as war is declared in Israel.

Instead, he discovers that Dreyfus (Kenneth Colley), a Jew, was merely a convenient scapegoat for the actions of the true culprit, a member of the French General staff. His attempt to right the wrong sees his military career ended and the famous French author, Émile Zola (Martin Friend), found guilty of libel.

However, anti-Semitism is rife in their environment, and they flee to escape an upcoming conflict. Journeying together, they demonstrate their inseparability.

Mina Tannenbaum and Ethel Benegui are two Jewish girls living in Paris. They were born on the same day, 5 April 1958, at the Rothschild Hospital, Mina just before Ethel. They first meet when they are seven years old. As their religion makes them feel like outsiders at school, they form a friendship as a result, despite having nothing else in common. Ethel is extroverted and comes from a middle-class family, while Mina is introverted and comes from a lower-class background. Their friendship continues as they grow up, but as adults they start to drift apart. Mina becomes an artist and although she finds men attractive, she is afraid to approach them. Ethel meanwhile becomes a journalist specializing in popular culture, and finds herself in a string of relationships that prove unsatisfying. They soon realize how their differences have put a strain on their relationship.
Abram lives in Harran, a rich city. His wife Sarah (Barbara Hershey) is childless, and their only heir is Eliezer of Damascus. One day he hears the voice of God, who says that he must leave Haran and travel to an unknown land. God promises to make a great nation from him and renames him Abraham.
