Kate Murtagh (born October 29, 1920) is an American actress who has acted in such films as The Night Strangler (1973), Farewell, My Lovely (1975), The Car (1977), and Doctor Detroit (1983). Her television appearances were on Daniel Boone, My Three Sons, The Munsters, I Dream of Jeannie, The Twilight Zone and Highway to Heaven.

Murtagh is pictured on the front and back covers of the English rock group Supertramp's 1979 multi-platinum recording, Breakfast In America. She is portrayed on the front cover as a waitress named "Libby," holding a tall glass of orange juice, in place of the Statue of Liberty in an illustrated depiction of New York City. She is a native of Los Angeles, California. Retired from acting since 1999, she is, as of 2010, a resident at the Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital, where she still takes classes in improvisation.

Josh (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is a high school boy who lives with his adoptive parents and is involved in little crimes with his friends, including young lesbian Bella (Fairuza Balk). Two bicyclists cycling on a canyon are followed by a mysterious black car down the road. At the bridge, the car proceeds to crush one cyclist against the wall, and ram the other from behind, causing him to fall off the bridge. A hitchhiker, hoping to get a ride, encounters the car and insults it after it purposefully tries to run him down. In response, the car runs over him and leaves. The local sheriff's office, called to the first of a series of hit and run deaths, get a lead on the car that appears heavily customized and has no license plate, as pointed out by Amos Clemens (R. G. Armstrong) after he sees it run over the hitchhiker.
