She came into movie industry as a child artist and later started doing lead roles and supporting roles. She hails from Alappuzha. She was married to Raghuram.

She died of gas cylinder explosion at her home in 1993. She was a distant relative of Parvathy Jayaram.

Fifteen-year-old Parvathi (Annie) witnesses her family getting murdered by Jaganatha Varma (Narendra Prasad). She runs away from them to save her life. To prevent getting caught, she disguises herself as a boy named Thomas and starts living as a servant in a house of bachelors. One of the bachelors, Omanakuttan (Mukesh) discovers that Thomas is actually a girl. After hearing her story, Omanakkuttan and his friends try to help her. Before Jaganatha Varma could kill her, Policeman S. Narayanan (Balachandra Menon) discovers his plan and saves Parvathi.

Prakash Menon (Jayaram) is a successful architect based in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. His company's Kochi branch was not doing so good and so the company decided to relocate him to Kochi to make things good. He was supposed to replace his equivalent in Kochi named Anu Pillai (Suchitra Krishnamoorthi). Anu Pillai is not happy about the company's decision since she does not want to move out of Kochi and she objects. The film takes place in Calcutta, 1971. The story begins with rehabilitation official Venu (Mohanlal) coming to Calcutta in one of his regular visits to shift about 35 to 40 refugee families to the Andaman Islands. The current rehabilitation plan is that only those who fall under the category of schedule caste farmers. People in Andaman, too, are not happy about taking in refugees. All the refugees have been staying in Permanent Liability Camp in Rana ghat, West Bengal for the past two decades. Experiencing the shattered lives of poor displaced people deeply hurts Venu in his silent moments alone in his small lodge room frequently finds himself lost in the thoughts about the lives of the refuge seekers he meets during the day. Living an oppressed life, their only hope being the occasional promises of land, cattle, and other grants by the bureaucratic state.
