She is born as Haseena to Late Muhammed Haneef, an A.S.I and Hafsa Beevi, at Alisherry, Alappuzha, Kerala. She has two brothers Haseeb and Hanees, both are in film industry. She had her primary education from Govt. Mohammedan's Higher Secondary School, Alappuzha. She was a theatre artist before becoming a cine artist. She debuted as a heroine to Balachandra Menon in the movie Kandathum Kettathum in 1988. She was married to T.S.Suresh Babu, a noted Malayalam film director, but ended in divorce. Retired Supreme Court Chief Justice Viswanathan Menon (Madhu) and his wife (Kaviyoor Ponnamma) come home to celebrate Vishu with his children (Siddique, Vijayaraghavan and Sindhu Menon) and grandchildren, and hopes to spend the remainder of his life in tranquility. Raghavan Master (Sreeraman), a scion of a high Adiga Brahmin family and an ardent communist, is now in crisis as his Tharavadu is devoid of the fame and fortune it once had. Balachandran Adiga is his only son, who has the burden of looking after his family and his four nubile daughters. He is aware of the difficulties involved in bringing the family back from the brink of nothingness and in marrying off his sisters. Balachandran's eldest sister Shobha does some tailoring and manages a low earning with which the family is kept out of hunger. Balachandran is engaged to Sumithra, his cousin and childhood pal, but in the turn of events, one Thripran Namboodhiri (Salim kumar) comes with an offer to marry his niece to Balachandran, thereby agreeing to make him a secretariat staff and thereby save their sinking family. Sumithra forces Balchandran to risk their dreams for the sake of his family. He is forced to forget his murappennu and childhood playmate Sumitra(Kavya Madhavan) and is compelled to marry Surabhi(Samvrutha Sunil), a girl from a rich family, to tackle the serious economic adversities that his family faces. Notwithstanding the family chaos, Balachandran's younger sister Shubha walks out with Adivasi leader Sreedharan on the day of Balachandran’s marriage, causing irreparable damage to the family reputation, following which his mother dies. Sumithra finally marries a cruel and corrupt police officer who is always doubtful on the character of his wife.

Nakshathrakkannulla Rajakumaran Avanundoru Rajakumari revolves around a family that claims that they are the descendants of the brave chekavars, who were the warriors of the Vadakkanpaattu. Bhageerathi Amma (K.R.Vijaya) has two sons, Veerabhadra Kurup (Narendra Prasad) and Kochchukurup (Kalabhavan Mani), and a daughter Subhadra (Sicily), who constantly feud with each other. The elder Kurup’s daughter Aswathy (Gayathri Raghuram) is in love with her muracherukkan, Subhadra’s son Ananthu (Prithviraj), but their parents object to the match. They are encouraged by Chandutty (Jagathy Sreekumar), Bhaskaran (Tharikida Sabu) and Shankunni (Baiju). They hope that Aswathy’s brother Karthik (Renju) will come to their rescue. But he turns against the lovers on the advice of his father. Suddenly, Raziya Begum (Anjali Krishna) turns up, claiming to be Karthik’s lover. Ananthu and his gang use this opportunity to fix Karthik, and Kochukurup gives them a lot of muscle support. After a lot of buffoonery and mistaken identity, the couple are united. The movie was the debut of Actor 'Prithviraj'. This film is a box office disaster.

Sunny Palomattam (Mohanlal) is an established businessman in Singapore. He enjoys a flamboyant life with girlfriend Sandra Valookaran (Meena). His business rival, Mohammad Ali, was a partner who left after he was found embezzling company funds. Sunny discloses his past to Sandra: his family was a happy one, until Pappan (Rajan P. Dev) framed Sunny's father Ittichan (Madhu) in a fraud case. Shortly after, Ittichan died of a heart attack, and Sunny's engagement with fiancée Nancy (Divya Unni) is called off.
