Harish Venkatraman (Prithviraj Sukumaran), a software architect by profession who lives in Malaysia, is the millionaire nephew of Maheswaran Iyer (Radharavi). Appu (Prashanth) is a taxi driver in Mumbai (Bombay). He is still haunted by the suicide of his sister who was sold to a brothel. He is still trying to find out the culprit. Here he meets Sita (Devayani) who is chased by Eunuch Maharani (Prakash Raj) who is also responsible for the death of his sister. Maharani is the madame or kingpin of the flesh trade in Mumbai. The film is about an old man Sivaji (Sivaji Ganesan) who can know the character and the future of a person by just looking in eyes. Giri (Harish Kumar) is a rich student who spends lot of money for his friends. He falls in love with Sivaji's daughter Aruna but Aruna rejects him and humiliates him. Giri decides to not give up. Later, Aruna and her friend Rajeswari (Sasikala) go to a picnic with their classmates. Giri's friend Aandavar (K. S. Raghuram) doesn't want to see Giri and Aruna together, for fear that Giri won't anymore spend money for self-interest. Later, Giri and Aandavar plan to humiliated Aruna. Aruna is blamed to be a nymphomaniac, to prove the contrary the innocent girl commits suicide. The hatred intensifies between Giri and Rajeswari. In the meantime, Rajeswari's brother-in-law Dinesh (Rajasekhar) burns Rajeswari's sister and wants to marry Rajeswari. Finally, Sivaji and Giri come to her rescue.

Veteran lawyer Rajinikanth(Shivaji Ganeshan) has never lost a case in the court. He is a self made man with a rags to riches story. Hence he does not ask for favours from anyone, except in the aspiration of being appointed as a Judge/ Justice of supreme court, where he expects the Bar Council of the court to favour him. Kannan is his nephew who is brought up like a son by the childless Rajinikanth and his wife. Kannan was also played by Shivaji Ganeshan in a double role. Kannan is an antithesis of Rajinikanth, he is a god fearing, amiable, domesticated young man.

Pandian and Arun are police officers. Pallavi is a drug addict who cannot stop her habit even though her brother Arun pleads. One day Arun locks her up, but she dies from withdrawal. Devastated Arun decides to take revenge on Mohandas, the kingpin of drug mafia, but Mohandas kills him in an airport restroom. Sudha's young brother happens to watch this murder but is terrified to make this public. Pandian who is in-charge of this case zeroes in Sudha and her brother as witnesses, but she refuses. But when Madhuri pleads her help, she decides to help Pandian, but now Pandian is abducted by Mohandas's men and forcefully turn him to a drug addict. The climax reveals whether Pandian nab the drug lord and complete the revenge of his friend Arun.

The story begins with Arjun (Sathyaraj) being arrested for multiple crimes. In the past, Arjun was a happy-go-lucky young man. His brother (Delhi Ganesh), a factory's union leader, clashed with his superiors (M. N. Nambiar, Malaysia Vasudevan and Chitra Lakshmanan) for bonus. In the meantime, Arjun fell in love with Radha (Radha). To help the labourer, Arjun cheated the factory's owners as a fake income tax officer, he managed to take all their black money and he gave it to the labourers. Later, Arjun's brother, sister-in-law and his niece were killed. In anger, he tried to kill the culprit and failed. Siva Prasad (Captain Raju), Radha's brother, advised him to surrender but, as an innocent, he refused. However, Siva Prasad arrested him in surprise. Arjun was tortured and his head was shaved. Therefore, a bald Arjun comes to the court. Despite everything was against Arjun, the judge Ram Prakash (Sivaji Ganesan) feels that he is innocent. So Ram Prakash sentences that Arjun will be under house arrest in his isolated island. Along with Ram Prakash how Arjun kills the culprits forms the rest of the story.
