Synopsis
Kishen Malhotra is an industrialist who heads the Malhotra empire. His relatives are his mother (Sushma Seth), his uncle (Alok Nath) and his cousin Bhanu(Mohnish Behl). One day, he finds his cousin defrauding the company and banishes him from the house. To expand his business, Kishen decides to investigate prospects in a village. Seema (Taapsee Pannu) is a young girl who lives in Mumbai with her father (Anupam Kher). He, being an active military officer, wants Seema to marry a similar man. He had arranged Seema's marriage to such people five times in a row, with Seema evading all five arrangements. Her father had now arranged her marriage for the sixth time, which Seema evades again and escapes to Goa to live with her uncle, her father's younger brother (Anupam Kher), in a double role. Siddharth Kashyap (Ali Zafar), Jai (Siddharth) and Omi (Divyendu Sharma) are three friends who live in a rented apartment. Miss Josephine (Lilette Dubey) is their landlady. All the three are frequent visitors to a café owned by Joseph Furtado (Rishi Kapoor). The three owe huge amounts of money to Joseph and Josephine. One day, Omi spots Seema taking a walk with her dog Aryabhatta. Attracted to her, he calls his friend Jai. Both of them try to impress her. One after the other, they break into Seema's house. Omi tries to impress Seema with his poetry. Meanwhile, Seema mistakes him for a dog trainer and takes him straight into her bedroom. Omi assumes Seema is interested him and starts browsing her bedroom while Seema prepares her dog [name of Dog is "Aryabhata" given in movie by writer] Unable to handle the dog, Omi runs back home, where he tells everyone a completely different story. Omi tells his friends that they had sex and were deeply in love. Jealous, Jai tries his luck. Jai breaks in, telling them he is a reputed film-maker. Upon realization, Seema calls her grandmother and makes her beat up Jai until he finally makes his run. Back home, Jai tells a similar story. Jai tells the other two that they two were deeply in love and were now dating. Siddharth, meanwhile, isn't interested in Seema.

Deeka (Vinod Khanna) had been in jail for several crimes, including bank robberies. When his prison sentence is over, Deeka decides to go straight. Unfortunately, while in a bank, he becomes a victim of a bungling bank robber, Inder or Eena (Rishi Kapoor), who needs money to get medical treatment for his mother (Dina Pathak). When the police arrive, they witness Eena with the notorious bank robber, and come to the conclusion that Deeka has gone back to his criminal ways. Deeka's attempts to convince them are in vain, and he must escape together with Eena for now, and he does so. The police are after Deeka, and he must get a hold of Eena and get him to confess to his crime, and therefore clear his name. But Eena is unwilling to confess, and runs away from Deeka.

Ajay (Anil Kapoor) an intelligent ex-student of the S. T. School is appointed in the same school as a teacher. Jaya (Karisma Kapoor) who studies in his class harasses him by playing mischievous pranks. Ajay's refusal to enter into a romantic relationship with Jaya upsets her. She challenges him that she will one day become his wife. In a hurry he marries Saraswati (Juhi Chawla), an illiterate orphan girl. Jaya befriends Saraswati by teaching her everything from cooking to reading and writing. One day, some terrorists attack the school and take the children as hostages. Ajay, Jaya and all are trapped. In between Jaya gives her life to save Ajay, there Saraswati reveals that she knows about Jaya's love for Ajay and the same feelings were in Ajay's heart which he never discloses due to his faithfulness towards his wife. Jaya dies at the end of the film.

Lalita (Madhuri Dixit) catches the eye of JB (Raj Babbar) and he immediately falls in love with her and decides that he must have her. She is literally watched over by JB every day in case she tries to escape. On the day of the wedding, Lalita faints and uses this to escape. She also moves her mother away and barely escapes JB who assumes that she has been killed after he saw her being hit by a car. In fact, Lalita swapped her wedding dress with someone else, so the person that JB saw being hit by the car was not Lalita.
