Synopsis
Inspired by a true incident, the film starts off when an underprivileged man gets crushed under the weight of a politician's (Satish Kaushik). The film gets into the mood immediately after the death of this man. Be it the judge trying to get into the details of the man's death, be it the lawyers of the parties arguing the case, be it the sparking off of the communal riots. Since the deceased, who was a Hindu by birth, but had got converted to Islam, his death gives rise to a religious spark between two religious factions "the Hindus and Muslims" who want his body to be burnt and buried, respectively.Actors

Shyamsunder (Govinda) is a naive villager who has a great interest in music. He travels to the city, making friends with Muthuswami (Satish Kaushik), a South Indian tabla player. The president of the TIPS cassette company, Khurana (Kader Khan), is impressed with his musical abilities and promotes him to a high position. As he goes back to repay his debts in the village he receives tragic news of the death of his wife Pooja (Karisma Kapoor) has died in a flood. He then marries Khurana's daughter Divya (Tabu). When Khurana has a heart attack, he finds his "presumed dead" wife Pooja in the hospital. He then has to fool his two wives, even if it includes leading a double life to make sure Pooja and Divya don't discover he has married both of them.

Raj Malhotra (Raju) (Govinda), a detective, goes on a European trip to help his friend Sanjay Khanna (Nirmal Pandey) prove that his wife is having an extramarital affair. Anjaana Anjaani is the story of Kiara (Priyanka Chopra) and Akash (Ranbir Kapoor). Kiara is based in San Francisco, while Akash is a New York City boy. Akash has to clear a loan of $12 million, which he is unable to partly due to the stock market crash. Unable to find any means, suicide seems the only option. He decides to jump off the George Washington Bridge. This is when he meets Kiara, who is also bound to commit suicide because she caught her fiancé Kunal (Zayed Khan) cheating on her. They both try to put an end to their lives but are deterred by the coastguards. Still keen on ending their lives, Akash deliberately gets hit by a car and Kiara falls on the bridge and breaks her neck. This proves to be yet another failed attempt and they end up in the hospital together. Kiara takes Akash to her house as his house was seized by the bank.

Chastised by their son, Aayush's Hindi school-teacher for not conversing in one of the national languages, as well as ignoring the relevance of the word 'Atithi', Mumbai-based Bollywood writer, Puneet (Ajay Devgn), and his wife, Munmun (Konkona Sen Sharma), go out of their way to welcome an hitherto unknown paternal uncle, Lambodar (Paresh Rawal), from Gorakhpur. Hoping that he will depart soon, the couple find their lives turned upside when he not only refuses to leave but interferes with their professional and personal lives – so much so that Puneet gets fired from his movie project 'Pachaas', and Munmun almost loses her job. The loaded with mayhem ways they try to get Lambodar out of their house leads to hilarious results!The climax of the story is that when Lambodhar decides to go back to his village Pappu(his original nephew whom he had mistaken as Ajay Devgn) comes and invites him over.The confusion was that Puneet was living in A wing and Pappu was in the B wing of the apartment.
