Faces of Death VI is a 1996 direct-to-video compilation of the highlights of the earlier films in the Faces of Death series. It features many of the same scenes shown in Faces of Death 1 and 4, as well as the earlier compilation Faces of Death V. It begins without any opening credits, before recycling (for the third time) the sequence from Faces of Death involving the killing of a monkey which is then prepared and served to patrons of a gourmet restaurant. Also shown for the second time are the staged heart-ripping scene by African natives and the "head in a box" scene, both taken from Faces of Death IV. John Alan Schwartz's cameo as the leader of the flesh eating cult, as well as "The encapsulation of Samuel Berkowitz" are also featured again, and the final credits are those from Faces of Death.

Faces of Death VI exists in 3 distinct versions:

1. The widest-known version is the one that was released "unofficially" by Gorgon Video in the U.S. It features the artwork from part four reversed. It contains clips mostly from parts one and four, and has the opening credits from part one. This is the version of Faces of Death 6 that was released to buy or rent on video in the U.S.

2. The second is a nearly extinct mail-order only version (which Fangoria possibly offered in the back of old issues) that is no longer available. Most outlets online with Faces of Death 6 to download carry this version. It features a different narrator, all different footage and the title screen reads "FACES OF DEATH" and then the word "SIX" slowly becomes imposed over the text. As stated on various sites, this version is extremely washed out. Most of the scenes are almost completely white and unwatchable. It should also be noted that at the very end of this version the "Gorgon Video" bumper begins to play but is suddenly cut off.

3. The third version is part of the German version of the series. It is titled Gesichter Des Todes VI and was released on DVD in Germany in German with no English option. This version is reportedly all different footage, with a German narrator. However, it is possible it is just a different "death" film re-titled. Possibly Faces of Death: The Millennium Edition, as the images on the back of the Gesichter Des Todes VI DVD are from some of the same footage found on Faces of Death: Millennium. Source: [1]

The documentary mainly focuses on the connection between events in the United States during the last century and the attraction that horror films have to moviegoing audiences. Filmmakers, producers, and historians such as John Carpenter, George A. Romero, Tom McLoughlin, and Mick Garris examine and give their opinions on such links between occurring events and horror movie themes. The discussion first begins with the connections found between World War I and films featuring human-like monsters and ideas, such as Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Seventh Victim. The topic then moves on to World War II and the Holocaust, and the widespread atomic paranoia associated with B movies of the 1950s like Tarantula and Creature with the Atom Brain.

The film begins in the forest with shots of local wildlife, agitated and on alert, but the source is not seen on screen. The camera then switches to a first person view, hinting at an unseen presence and the scene culminates with the view of a large human-like creature's reflection at water's edge while a haunting wail echos through the forest. Opening credits are next, followed by a review of recent Bigfoot stories via newspaper clippings and narration. Next up is the well-known Patterson–Gimlin film, shot by Roger Patterson on October 20, 1967, in Bluff Creek, CA which shows an ape-like creature walking along a dry creek bed. The narrator goes on to explain that by running statistical data through modern computers, a site in British Columbia has been determined as the most likely spot for a population of Sasquatch to live undisturbed. An expedition is mounted, hoping to verify the creature's existence and secure funding for future research into the phenomenon.

The film is a depiction of various scenes, usually violent or bizarre, that somehow relate to hunting. Each scenario is presented one after the other with little regard for narrative continuity. The opening scene introduces a Patagonian hunter who hunts stags to survive. The opening credits play over as he chases after a stag, which he ultimately shoots, kills, and beheads. Afterwards, one of the numerous scenes of anti-hunting gatherings is shown, this one in Cape Cod. The attention quickly shifts to wildlife hunting, where a monkey is killed by a leopard, and then a squirrel monkey by an anaconda. The theme changes again to the social hunt of wild game in Australia and Africa. Aborigines hunt kangaroos and other large marsupials with spears and giant bats with boomerangs. Indigenous tribes of Africa hunt large game, including antelope, buffalo, and elephants, in the savanna. Religious ceremonies are also shown, where the African hunters proceed to suck fresh blood from the entrails of an antelope, and the Australian aborigines symbolically bury their prey in dust to placate the spirits of the animals. Lastly, two brothers are arrested after partaking in a form of ritual post-mortem cannibalism of three of their relatives to acquire the hunting skills of the dead.
