It is a direct sequel to Friday the 13th, picking up five years after that film's conclusion, where a new murderer stalks and begins murdering the camp counselors at a nearby training camp in Crystal Lake. The film marks the first time Jason Voorhees is the antagonist (his mother was the killer in the previous film).
Originally, Friday the 13th Part 2 was not intended to be a direct sequel to the 1980 original but rather part of an anthology series of films based on the Friday the 13th superstition, but after the popularity of the original film's surprise ending to feature Jason Voorhees attacking the heroine, the filmmakers decided to bring back Jason and the mythology surrounding Camp Crystal Lake, a trend which would be repeated for the rest of the series.
Stylistically, Friday the 13th Part 2 reproduces certain key elements that made the original Friday the 13th a sleeper hit in 1980, such as first-person camera perspectives, gory stalk-and-slash scenes, and campground settings. Although it did not reach the original's box office success, the sequel was a financial success, grossing over $21.7 million in the United States on a budget of $1.25 million.
Synopsis
Two months after the events of the first film, Alice Hardy, the sole survivor of the 1979 killing spree, is recovering from her trauma. In her apartment, she finds the head of Pamela Voorhees in her refrigerator and is brutally murdered by an unseen assailant with an ice pick to her temple.Actors

The day after the events in the previous film, Jason, seriously injured after his encounter, goes to a lakefront store to find clothes and a replacement mask. Twenty years after the events of Halloween and Halloween II, on October 29, 1998, Marion Chambers (Nancy Stephens), Dr. Sam Loomis' former colleague, returns to her house in Langdon, Illinois, to find it has been burglarized. DeepStar Six is a prototype deep-sea colony funded by the United States Navy with a collection of 11 military and civilian crew members in the last week of their six month tour. The brainchild of Dr. Van Gelder, the base is allowed to conduct its experiment on underwater colonization provided that he also oversee the installation of a nuclear missile storage platform nearby. In 1939, Captain Daniel McCormick (Mel Gibson) is a United States Army Air Corps test pilot. After a successful run and subsequent crash landing in a prototype North American B-25 Mitchell bomber at Alexander Field in Northern California, McCormick is greeted by his longtime friend, Harry Finley (George Wendt) who's a scientist. The film opens with T.P (Tony Fish), one of the senior counselors at a camp, is telling a scary story around a campfire to the young campers and the other counselors - who consist of Betsy (Gaylen Ross), Ellie (Jan Claire), Dave (Seth Jones), Stacy (Harriet Bass), Bill (Alexander Murphy Jr.), and Max (Carl Fredericks); the late middle-aged head counselor. After T.P. finishes his story, Max begins to tell of a man named Madman Marz, who killed his whole family with an axe was convicted by being hung for his crimes, only to break free and disappear into the woods. Max continues by saying that anyone who says his name will awaken him and cause him to track and kill that person. Richie (Jimmy Steele), a cocky teenager, stands up and screams Marz's name, smashing a rock into his old house. Max, annoyed at Richie, ends the campfire and sends everyone to their cabins, while he goes into town to retrieve supplies. Richie notices Madman Marz up in a tree, and follows him to his house, where he investigates. As Max and Dave try to retrieve a felling axe that is stuck into a log, everyone heads inside their cabins. Chef Dippy (Michael Sulliva) is killed by Marz outside.
