The film is about a group of college friends who go into a haunted forest, with Nishanth Sagar, Boban Alamudan, Lena, Vikram and Vani Viswanath appearing amongst others in the cast. It was dubbed and released in Tamil as Manthira Kottai in December 2000, shortly after the success of Sethu, in which Vikram had featured.
Synopsis
A college group of anthropology students go to the remote forest are of Muthuvan Mala, under the oversight of Prof. Shankaranarayanan (Raghavan), in order to study the tribal life which had existed there. A student, Sunny (Nishanth Sagar), unknowingly unleashes the spirit of Neeli (Vani Viswanath), who is a ghost seeking revenge against the Thripangod royal family, one of whom (Devan) had killed her and her lover (Vikram. Consequently Neeli starts killing off the students one by one and the police call for sorcerer Vadakkedath Namboothiri (Prathapachandran) to be summoned.Actors

Ramanujam Iyengar, also known as Ambi, is an orthodox Brahmin and a straightforward consumer protection advocate living in Chennai. He expects everyone to follow the laws and prosecutes those who flout them. However, his efforts fail as circumstantial evidence always seems to favour the accused. He also fails to raise civic awareness due to pervasive corruption and a general lack of seriousness. Frustrated at his inability to bring about a change in society, his suppressed anger manifests itself in an alter-ego named "Anniyan", a grim reaper-themed serial killer who punishes corrupt and indifferent people. Anniyan creates a website, compiles a list of wrongdoers from his site, and kills them using punishments described in the Garuda Purana, one of the ancient Hindu scriptures.

Raghava (Lawrence Raghavendra) is a typical jobless youth who spends his days playing cricket with friends. The film tells the story Unniyarcha, the valiant heroine of the Vadakkanpattu, though a member of the fairer sex, masters martial arts and proves herself as an equal to her brother Aromal Chekavar and cousin Chandu Chekavar, both renowned warriors. Unniyarcha is portrayed as the embodiment of all virtues. The film also narrates how jealousy takes its roots in the mind of Chandu, and how he grows hostile to Aaromal, consequently betraying him during a duel. Unniyarcha then pledges to take revenge for this betrayal. This forms the crux of the film.
