Market is a 2003 film directed by Jay Prakash and starring Manisha Koirala. Amar Kant Varma (Shahrukh Khan) is a Program executive for All India Radio. He is dispatched from New Delhi to cover festivities in Northeast India. On his way there, during a rainy night, Amar stops at Haflong train station to catch Baraks Valley express, as the train runs late, Amar meets a mysterious woman by herself who asks him for a cup of tea. When he returns with the tea, he watches her board the next train with three male passengers. Later, Amar spots the same woman in Silchar. He attempts to talk to her but she says she cannot recall meeting him before. As part of his news reporting assignment, for the occasion of fifty years of Indian Independence, Amar interviews many citizens of Barak Valley, and an extremist leader, who claim that the reason behind human rights violations, and poverty in the region is due to Indian Government, and that the Liberationists do not wish to enter into any dialogue with the government, and further justify their resistance in Utthar Purv.

Juhi is an aging prostitute whose son, Kaku, is a wheelchair-bound. She finds it challenging to take care of him with the limited number of customers that now find her attractive. Two childhood friends grow up to be on the opposite sides of law, one an Additional Police Commissioner, Mahendra Ashwini Kumar, and the other a crime lord, Raj Pratap Singhal. An associate of Singhal kills the son of Mahendra, and his other son, Rajesh, also a police officer, swears to avenge the death. Mahendra's deceased son leaves behind a widow, Kaushalya and a daughter, Meghna. On a chance meeting, Meghna meets with Vicky Malhotra, and eventually both in love with each other. The Kumars are introduced to Vicky, and they approve of him. Mahendra is then promoted as the Commissioner of Police, and is subsequently killed by another associate of Singhal. With the police closing in on Singhal, he decides to re-locate to Dubai, U.A.E. with his wife, son, daughter-in-law Anu, and he arranges the abduction of Meghna to ensure his safety from Rajesh's wrath. It is then that Meghna comes to know that Vicky is really the other son of Singhal, and who now has started showing his true colors.

Pooja is mistakenly convicted of murder, and Arjun must save her while he keeps up his family responsibilities, but his father soon meets a cruel end as well. The police arrive on the scene to arrest Arjun for murder. Now, on the run from both the police and the mysterious criminals, Arjun and Pooja work to expose the truth while evading a fate at the hands of either.
