Pixels is a 2010 French animated short film written and directed by Patrick Jean. It is about an invasion of New York City by classic 8-bit video game characters, such as those from Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Tetris, Arkanoid and others.
The film won the Annecy Crystal for Best Short Film at the 2011 Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
Synopsis
A man walks over to a trash can, puts a 1980s-era television by it, and leaves. A few seconds go by, then the TV turns on and shows colored bars. An 8-bit picture of a bomb shows up and the simulated fuse runs out, causing the TV screen to shatter, releasing a cloud of pixels (illustrated as voxels because of the three-dimensionality of the scene). The pixels fly over to New York City and head in various directions.Comments

In 2065, Earth is infested by alien life forms known as Phantoms. By physical contact Phantoms consume the Gaia spirit of living beings, killing them instantly, though a minor contact may only result in an infection. The surviving humans live in "barrier cities", areas protected by an energy shield that prevents Phantoms from entering, and are engaged in an ongoing struggle to free the planet. After being infected by a Phantom during one of her experiments, Aki Ross (Ming-Na) and her mentor, Doctor Sid (Donald Sutherland), uncover a means of defeating the Phantoms by gathering eight spirit signatures that, when joined, can negate the Phantoms. Aki is searching for the sixth spirit in the ruins of New York City when she is cornered by Phantoms but is rescued by Gray Edwards (Alec Baldwin) and his squad "Deep Eyes", consisting of Ryan Whittaker (Ving Rhames), Neil Fleming (Steve Buscemi) and Jane Proudfoot (Peri Gilpin). It is revealed that Gray was once romantically involved with Aki.

While visiting his mother's grave, Barry Allen, known as the Flash, is alerted to a break-in by Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, Heat Wave, Mirror Master, and the Top at the Flash Museum. Deunan Knute, a young soldier and one of the Global War's last survivors, is rescued by Hitomi, a Second Generation Bioroid. Her escape attempt from a hospital and taken Hitomi hostage fails when she is stopped by her former lover Briareos Hecatonchires, now a cyborg. She realizes that the war had ended and she is in a Utopian city called Olympus. Its population is half-human and half-clone, a genetically-engineered species called Bioroids. Olympus is governed by three factions: Prime Minister Athena Areios; General Edward Uranus III, head of the Olympus Army; and a Council of Elders. Everything in the city is observed by an artificial intelligence named Gaia from a building called Tartaros. While there, Deunan joins the counter-terrorism organization ESWAT.

On 16 July 1988, an orb of light destroys Tokyo and World War III begins. Thirty-one years later, in the city of Neo-Tokyo, Shotaro Kaneda has his bōsōzoku gang, the Capsules, battle their rival gang, the Clowns. L'histoire raconte l'aventure de Duck Dodgers à la recherche de « l’Illudium Phosdex ». Cet élément chimique rare, atome constitutif de la crème à raser, ne se trouve plus que sur la mystérieuse « planète X ». Daffy Duck, accompagné de son « Cadet de l'espace » (Porky Pig), fait des recherches sur un tableau et déduit qu'il faut passer par toutes les planètes marquée d'une lettre, et ceci par ordre alphabétique, pour aboutir « naturellement » à cette planète X. Daffy Duck finit par y atterrir. Il en prend possession au nom de la Terre, au moment où Marvin le Martien fait de même au nom de la planète Mars. Les deux champions planétaires vont devoir s’affronter en un combat où la ruse compte encore plus que la force brute. Au cours de leur recherche de la suprématie sur la planète, Daffy et Marvin se menacent chacun d'un pistolet désintégrateur. Quand Marvin tire, il désintègre Daffy en particules atomiques. Mais heureusement Porky le « réintègre » grâce à un pistolet du même nom. Depuis leur vaisseau respectif, Daffy et Marvin s'espionnent ; puis chacun dirige sur l'autre une arme extrêmement destructrice. La planète est peu après complètement détruite, sauf un petit morceau qui flotte dans l'espace et auquel se raccrochent les trois protagonistes. Tandis que Daffy-Duck Dodgers crie victoire, Porky conclut par un désabusé « Oh la belle affaire.

In 3028 A.D., humanity has mastered deep space travel and interacted with several alien species. A human invention called "Project Titan" alarms the Drej, a pure energy-based alien species who attack Earth after breaching the Global Defense System. As the Drej start to attack Earth, Professor Sam Tucker, the lead researcher for "Project Titan", sends his son Cale on one of the evacuation ships with his alien friend Tek while Tucker and other members of his team fly the Titan spacecraft into hyperspace. When the Drej mothership destroys the Earth with an energy beam, the surviving humans become nomads, generally ridiculed by other alien species.

In 2005, Unicron, a roaming artificial planet, devours robot planet Lithone. Elsewhere, the evil Decepticons control the Transformers' homeworld, Cybertron. Leon S. Kennedy sneaks into the Eastern Slav Republic (a fictional country that separated from the Soviet Union) to verify rumors that Bio-Organic Weapons (BOWs) are being used in the country's civil war, which the U.S. and Russia are preparing to intervene in. After his arrival, Ingrid Hunnigan, Leon's mission support, informs him the government has ordered an immediate retreat of all U.S. forces. Determined to stop the BOWs, Leon ignores the order. Leon comes across his contact, "Scarecrow," who has been attacked and is near death. A Licker finishes off Scarecrow as Leon is knocked out by an explosion; a shadowy figure orders the Licker not to kill Leon. Leon awakens, tied to a chair by rebel fighters J.D., Alexander Kozachenko (Buddy), and the elderly Ivan Judanovich, the group's Ataman.
