Shrutilayalu is a 1987 Telugu, musical drama film, directed by K. Viswanath. The film starred Rajasekhar and Sumalata. The soundtrack was composed by K. V. Mahadevan. The film has garnered the Nandi Awards for Best feature film; Best direction, and a Filmfare South for Best Music direction (Telugu). Synopsis
The film revolves around the role of Naidu (Kaikala Satyanarayana), a Carnatic musician and elder son Narayana Murthy (played by Rajasekhar) who starts getting recognized in the world because of the music learned from Naidu and leaves everyone to fall into the worldly pleasures forgetting his base roots. It is now the duty of Sita, the daughter-in-law of Naidu (wife of Narayana Murthy) to bring these souls on track.Actors

The film starts with a shabby old man living as a recluse near a famous temple. When he ventures out into the village, he is beaten by the shepherds who believes that he is a thief. Narasimha Murti (Chiranjeevi) is a multi-talented person who works as a waiter in a star hotel (filming location: Dolphin Hotel, Visakhapatnam) since he is unable to pass his B.A. exams. He meets Sujata (Sumalata), a lecturer who works in a college run by councillor Ankela Adiseshayya (Kaikala Satyanarayana). Mohan (Girish), who is an engineer and elder son of Adiseshayya, comes to Sujatha's place with his father for a marriage proposal. During this Sujata stands up and has an argument with Adiseshayya when the latter demands exorbitant amounts as dowry.
