Synopsis
Hindustan Colony, lying on the suburbs of the city, is a typical Indian city side colony, populated mainly with middle-class and lower-class people who are busy with their own day-to-day issues. The problem of drinking water had been a serious cause, which had been neglected by the ruling class for several years. Goplakrishnan (Jagadish), a resident of the colony is an educated youth, who works as a newspaper boy. Along with his bunch of friends Gopalakrishnan is active in all cultural activities. He is in love with Gowri, daughter of Poomukhath Kurup (Oduvil Unnikrishnan), a corrupted business contractor, who is also his uncle. It was the callousness of Kurup that led to the death of the father of Gopalakrishnan, which has made him a bitter enemy of Kurupp. In the mean time, politics is in turmoil in the state.Actors

Unnikrishan (Vijayakumar), a simple, innocent, easy going chap joins Government Law College. He along with first year students are ragged by the seniors under the leadership of Pappan (Ashokan). A student leader with strong political clout, Pappan violently thrashes down Unnikrishnan who opposes the ragging. Later again, he is insulted in front of the girls. Unnikrishnan stabs Pappan at the corridor of the college in retaliation. G. Roy Alex (K. B. Ganesh Kumar), an investigative journalist is doing a feature on hawala money that is being pumped in from the Middle East through hawala dealings. He is summoned to the house of Rahim Haji (Narendra Prasad), a high profile businessman and politician, who is also a former Member of Parliament. Rahim Haji wants Alex to create a media sabotage through his feature, where by exposing Narendra Shetty (Rajeev), a business tycoon who owns Shetty Corporation. Roy Alex follows Chakrapani, a hawala dealer of Shetty on his bike. On way back after secretly clicking his snaps exchanging cash, Roy Alex is brutally killed by Chakrapani (Bheeman Raghu) and his goons. Rahim Haji upon realizing that Alex is dead, is panicked. But within minutes, he comes face to face with Narendra Shetty, who fatally shoots him down for trespassing into his shady business secrets.

Swami Amoorthananda (Narendra Prasad), a holy godman with strong international connections also runs a powerful narcotic drug mafia in the state. He also has several connections with in political circles. A good orator, Swami also draws a large number of devotees from abroad and many are slowly turned into addicts. A series of murders at Kovalam beach invites sharp criticism of the govt and the chief minister (Madhu) decides to bring a new head to the state narcotics wing. Madhavan IPS (Suresh Gopi), thus arrives in Kerala from New Delhi, and is assisted by Sharath Chandran (Siddique), a smart CI of Kerala police. Madhavan's aggressive way of investigation leads him to the ashram or Swami Amoorthananda, which creates a panic in the state. Swami decides to eliminate Madhavan and also plans to topple the CM by appointing his left arm, Velayudhan (Rajan P. Dev) as the new CM. Mahesh Nair (Devan) arrives in Kerala upon the order of Swami. He kills Sarath Chandran, which forces Madhavan to react violently. Madhavan raids the ashram and spoils Swami's plot to cause a series of bomb blasts in the state. In the climax, Madhavan kills Swami and Mahesh Nair, thus saving the state from a series of blasts and communal riots.

Palayam Murukan (Manoj K. Jayan) is the underworld goonda leader ruling Palayam market in Kozhikode City. The story revolves around Joseph Alex I.A.S (Mammootty) and Bharathchandran IPS (Suresh Gopi). A Pakistan military group under Maj. Abu Jalal Rana trespasses Indian waters, targeting New Delhi. The plan, however, is intercepted by Dr. Emma John of Intelligence Wing as she informs it to her senior Padmabhushan Dr. Sudarshan (Nedumudi Venu). Before they can tell the home minister, however, they are killed by two cops, who is joined by a senior police officer, Shankar Ramdas (Devan). Unbeknownst to them, Imran, a photo journalist manages to take pictures of the scene onto his camera. Meanwhile, Kishore Balakrishnan (Vijay Menon), the senior analyst at the agency, sets off to see Swami Chandramoulishwar (Saikumar) at his ashram demanding for the information he passed before. However, Swami was able to suffocate him before pushing him into the Yamuna river. The next day, the bodies of Kishore, Dr. Sudarshan, and Dr. Emma are all found in the river. Since both the bodies of the doctors are seen in an intimate position, the police concludes that Kishore killed the two out of jealousy, and then killed himself right after by drowning himself into the river.

Jayashankar (Janardhanan), a sincere senior officer with Bangalore police is in direct fight with Surya Devaraja Gowda (Tiger Prabhakar), an underworld don who rules the city along with Chandra Gowda (Babu Antony), his younger brother. His family is too worried about his safety and younger brother Harishankar (Vikram Kennedy)always reminds him of it. Shivappa (Vijayaraghavan), an ex-mafia leader, now leads a retired life in the city suburbs running a stable. Though, retired, he has deep vengeance against Gowda, who had broken his leg, making him permanently disabled. Jayshankar longs his brother Ravishankar to join police. Ravi, currently working for Deccan Chronicle, a leading Bangalore daily, is also attempting for IPS. One day Jayashankar receives an information that a consignment belonging to Gowda is arriving the city. Along with Inspector Narayanan (Maniyan Pillai Raju), he tries to seize the trucks, but is shot killed by the goons. Ravishankar, who has just got a letter confirming his selection for IPS, reaches Jayashankar to inform the news, witnesses the brutal murder of his brother. Ravi reaches out the office of city police commissioner, but is shocked to find the killers there having a small talk with Govindan (M. G. Soman), the city deputy police commissioner. Ravi reacts violently and raise his hands at Govindan, accusing him of siding with Gowda. Govindan orders arrest of Ravi. The court sentences Ravi to 2 years in jail for assaulting a senior police officer on duty. Ravi loses his IPS selection because of his jail term. Upon release he decides to avenge his brother's death. Harishankar introduces Ravi to Felixa Alexandra alias Sandra (Geetha), the daughter of an ex-mafiosi, who was killed by Gowda. Sandra is now running a few business offices of which Harishankar is the manager. Sandra agrees to help Ravi in his mission. She introduces him to Shivappa. Though initially reluctant, he agrees to provide money and weapons in the war against Gowda. The central government nominates confers IPS for Govindan, who is also promoted as the city commissioner. At a function organized to felicitate Govindan, Ravi intrudes along with Hari and insults him publicly. The sudden and violent reaction or Govindan is recorded and passed over to higher authorities, causing the suspension of Govindan. Ravi targets the establishments of Gowda. He along with Shivappa blackmails Nanjappa (Renji Panicker), the home minister and gets Gowda raided. The loss of finance enrages Gowda, who sends Chandra, his brother to finish out Ravishankar. But Chandra is killed by Ravi. Gowda kidnaps Hari and offers deal. Upon the demand of Gowda, Ravi arrives, but along with Shivappa and his mercenary power. Ravishankar successfully saves his brother and finishes off Surya Devaraja Gowda by overrunning cars over him.

An anti-corruption drive led by Disha, a Gandhian social organization leads to the resignation of Krishnan Nambiar (Biju Pappan), a state minister. Susan Mary Thomas (Padmapriya Janakiraman), an upcoming English novelist is the main brain behind Disha, who also is involved in several woman empowerment programs. Just after his resignation, Krishnan Nambiar is found brutally murdered at a private tennis court. The chief Minister (Kollam Thulasi) assigns Appan Menon (Suresh Gopi), the investigation charge. Considered many to be a semi-eccentric for his way of behavior, Appan Menon is relieved from State Civil Supplies Corporation, where he was working as director. Appan Menon regularly calls up Vaiga (Vimala Raman), his wife at his residence in Madurai and gives a complete account of his day-to-day activities. Alexander Mekkadan (Siddique), who had begun the investigation of Krishan Nambiar's murder couldn't cope with the style of Appan Menon. Susan Mary Thomas is called up by Appan for preliminary questioning, but finds nothing suspicious. Up on calling Vaiga, in evening, she instructs Appan to be a bit more soft towards Susan and asks him to go and meet her to apologize. Appan reaches Susan's home, and is quite impressed by her activities, but disagrees with her non-violent movements. In mean time, Sulaiman Rauthar, a political leader is found dead. Apppan doubts both murders to be linked. Police team arrests Durga Dasan (Manoj K. Jayan), a former naxalite who claims himself to be a messenger of Goddess Durga. But up on questioning, it is revealed that he has got no links with murders. Susan, one day makes a visit to Appan's house and is shocked to find out that Vaiga is dead long back. She, with the help of Sahadevan (Chali Pala), Appan's personal assistant, gets his personal diary, through which tries to know more about him. Appan, son of a police superintendent in Tamil Nadu police, had a pale and colorless childhood. His father Vishwanatha Menon (Suresh Gopi), who was a strict follower of British army discipline tries to impose it on his son as well. Appan joins police after his education with gold medal. But just after the death of his father, he married Vaiga, whom he silently loved since his teenage days. Appan is appointed as the superintendent at Madhukarai. A ryot spreads through the village and 16 innocent villagers are brutally massacred. Appan finds out that Balasingam is brain behind the violence. His ambition to set up a Special Economic Zone was opposed by the villagers, who were feared of getting their land acquired. In retaliation, Balasingam wiped out the villagers to ease up the acquisition. Appan Menon arrests Balasingam and his accomplices. One evening, Kartha, Sulaiman Rauthar and Krishnan Nambiar and Kurian Vargeese (Mohan Jose) arrive at his home and demands a negotiation. Appan snubs them by refusing to accept any sort of negotiation. In a few minutes a group of thugs enter his residence and goes on rampage vaiga who was in bathroom is attacked by two thugs and murders her. Appan develops a psycho disturbance, in which he feels the presence of Vaiga with him. After reading his diary, Susan approaches Dr. Sreenivasan Iyengar (Lal),a psychiatrist for further details. Dr. Iyengar explains about Appan's visit to him just after the incident. He revealed to Dr. Iyengar that to get justice for Vaiga, he had killed Balasingam and is planning to killed the rest of the goons. Susan is shocked to find out that Appan himself is behind the murders of Krishnan Nambiar, Sulaiman and Kartha. Susan reaches out Alexander Mekkadan and passes out the information. Mekkadan launches a hunt for Appan, but he successfully flees from the nets. Appan reaches out at Kurian at his guest house. Kurian explains that Koshi Abraham Koshi (Saikumar), a high profile NRI businessman is the master brain behind everything. Appan kills Kurian and reaches out Koshi Abraham Koshi. He kills Koshi in the presence of the children of the 16 villagers of Madhukarai, whom Koshi had killed. The film ends by showing Appan witnessing a violent protest led by Susan Mary Thomas.

The story centers on Kasinathan (Mohanlal), a pragmatic but playful businessman keen on general welfare of his men also running a resort and massage parlour as a side business. Kasinathan is the younger brother of Swaminathan (Nedumudi Venu), the heir to Valiyamangalam Malika and the head of erstwhile feudal Midhilapuri. Midhilapuri is an idyllic village prospered through judicious use of agriculture as the path to good life. Kasinathan is powerful in his own right and is tipped to succeed influential politician Menon (Janardhanan) in Kerala politics. Kasinathan has a secret admirer in the form of a mysterious girl (Kiran Rathod) who drops messages and love hints every day. But Kasinathan has still better issues to worry about! The burning issue of providing drinking water supply to Udayankara colony is time and again sabotaged by Cherpunkal Shankar Das (Saikumar), a wily and unscrupulous politician of crassiest morals who is intent on teaching a lesson to the alleged loyalty of the people who continue to support righteous politicians. The reciprocal justice is carried out by Kasinathan who in a strategic move corners Shankar Das in a compromising position with a serial actress (Maya Viswanath)and blackmails him to release permission for water supply in the village. Shankar Das is forced to resign from the cabinet. Ensuing celebration is amply enjoyed in a rain dance song by Kasinathan with all and sundry of his devoted satellites including characters Murugan (Jagadish), Vellapulli Mathachan (Jagathy Sreekumar), Tomi (Vijayakumar), Basheer (Salim Kumar) Pushpakumaran (Maniyanpilla Raju) etc.
