The film is the second collaborative feature between Antonio Climati and Mario Morra in their series of Mondo films called the Savage Trilogy, following Ultime grida dalla savana.

In 1972, during Mao Zedong's Cultural Revolution, Michelangelo Antonioni was invited by the People's Republic of China to direct a documentary about New China. Only permitted to visit certain parts of the country, the director traveled with his crew for eight weeks in Beijing, Nanjing, Suzhou, Shanghai, and Henan province. The result was a three and a half hour long film, divided into three parts. Mao and his wife Jiang Qing disliked it so much that Antonioni was consequently charged with being anti-Chinese as well as counterrevolutionary. The film was finally shown at Beijing's Cinema Institute 30 years later.

Moon Siu is a horror story writer who got refractive surgery the day before her wedding. That night she stays at an unfurnished house in the suburb with her sister Yan. When Moon was sleeping, three robbers Pau, Kei and Man, who were hiding out there, kills Yan and her boyfriend and stuffs her corpse in the refrigerator. Later Moon finds Yan's corpse and arrested Kei when her fiance Ted arrived. While unknown to Moon, Ted actually belongs to the same gang.

Since the age of nine, Sebastian Telfair has been a well known player on the basketball courts in his hometown of Brooklyn. "Promenade sous les feuillages de l'érable" (紅葉狩, Momijigari) est un film japonais tourné en 1899 par Shibata Tsunekichi et sorti en 1903. Le guerrier Taira no Koremochi se rend à Togakushi-yama, montagne située dans la province de Shinano pour admirer le changement de couleur des feuilles en automne, en particulier celles de l'érable japonais. En réalité, il est venu chercher et tuer un démon qui tourmente Hachiman, la divinité de la montagne. Il rencontre une princesse nommée Sarashinahime et boit un peu du saké qu'elle lui offre... Il s'agit de l'enregistrement des acteurs kabuki Onoe Kikugorō V et Ichikawa Danjūrō IX dans une scène de la pièce Momijigari. Danjūrō était à l'origine opposé à l'idée d'apparaître sur film mais fut finalement convaincu que ce faisant il ferait un don à la postérité. Sauf découverte d'un autre film, Momijigari est le plus ancien film japonais dont il existe encore une copie.
