Real name Fred Krueger
Freddy Krueger est un personnage de fiction créé par Wes Craven, incarné pour la première fois par Robert Englund dans Les Griffes de la nuit (1984) ainsi que dans les huit autres films de la saga, puis par Jackie Earle Haley dans le remake de 2010 Freddy : Les Griffes de la nuit (neuvième et dernier film de la saga).
Tueur en série brûlé vif par les parents de ses jeunes victimes, Freddy revient d'entre les morts sous forme démoniaque afin de poursuivre et assassiner des adolescents dans leurs rêves. Défiguré et muni de griffes fixées sur un gant de cuir, le personnage est une icône du cinéma d'horreur.
Biography
Freddy Krueger est né en 1942, dans l'hôpital psychiatrique de Springwood. Il est la résultante de multiples viols qu'avait subis Amanda Krueger, alors qu'elle était nonne stagiaire au sein d'un hôpital psychiatrique, fermé depuis l’événement. Elle donne naissance à Freddy Krueger.Freddy vit au sein d'une famille d'adoption hostile à son égard et il est le souffre-douleur de ses camarades de classe. À cet âge la, Krueger présente déjà des signes de sadisme. Il s'adonne aux meurtres de petits animaux. Il apprivoise la souffrance et ses pulsions meurtrières en s'auto-mutilant.
Krueger fut élevé par un tuteur ivrogne qu'il assassina avec une lame de rasoir.
Une vingtaine d'années plus tard, il épouse Loretta, une serveuse, avec laquelle il aura une fille, Katheryn. C'est durant cette période que Freddy assassine des enfants. Il kidnappe et tue une vingtaine d'enfants de la rue Elm depuis son repère, une usine abandonnée. Loretta découvre les actions de Freddy et l'implore en lui promettant de garder son secret. Freddy la battra et l'étranglera à mort sous les yeux de leur fille, alors âgée de cinq ans.
Freddy sera finalement arrêté mais relâché à cause d'un défaut de signature sur l'un des documents d'inculpation. Après le procès, Amanda Krueger se suicide. C'est à ce moment que se propage une comptine à la gloire de l'assassin. Durant une soirée de 1968, les parents du quartier se mobilisent à la poursuite du rôdeur dont ils veulent obtenir justice. Ils retrouvent sa trace, cloîtré dans l'usine et y mettent le feu par de l'essence. Freddy, pris au piège des flammes, décède brûlé vif.
La peur, toujours présente chez les habitants, permet à Freddy de se réincarner dans les cauchemars de la nouvelle progéniture du quartier. Il assassine de nouveau, par le biais des rêves, avec davantage de sadisme. Il s'en suivra une centaine de meurtres au fil des années dans des conditions effroyables.
Dans le sixième film, il est dit que les démons du rêve lui ont proposé de vivre éternellement à travers les cauchemars.
Des années après, complètement oublié par toute la population de Springwood, il ressuscite la créature diabolique Jason Voorhees de la saga Vendredi 13. Freddy manipule le tueur afin qu'il commette des meurtres que les habitants, effrayés, attribueront au croque-mitaine. De ce fait, il possédera le pouvoir de tuer à nouveau.

Stan Helsing (Steve Howey) is an underachieving employee at a video rental store named Schlockbuster whose personal mottos are "Don't get involved" and "Don't talk about it". Kris Fowles (Katie Cassidy) goes to the Springwood Diner to meet with her boyfriend, Dean Russell (Kellan Lutz), who falls asleep at the table and meets a man covered in burn scars, wearing a red and green sweater, a fedora and a clawed glove on his hand. The burned man cuts Dean's throat in the dream, but in reality it appears that Dean is cutting his own throat as his friend, waitress Nancy Holbrook (Rooney Mara), looks on with Kris. At Dean's funeral, Kris sees a photograph of her and Dean as children, but cannot recall ever knowing Dean before high school. Kris begins to dream about the burned man herself and refuses to go to sleep for fear that she will die in her dreams. Jesse Braun (Thomas Dekker), Kris's ex-boyfriend, shows up at her house to keep her company while she sleeps, but Kris meets the burned man in her dreams and is murdered. Covered in blood, Jesse runs to Nancy's house to try to explain what happened and he learns that Nancy has been having dreams about the same man: Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley).

Freddy Krueger is trapped in Hell, it's 2003 and 4 years after the events and time of the sixth film and due to the fact the teenage residents of his town of Springwood, Ohio have forgotten about him, rendering him powerless, he can no longer return to Springwood, because there's no fear of him left in the entire town. He "can't come back if nobody's afraid", so, under the guise of Jason Voorhees' mother, Freddy manipulates Jason, who he'd been looking for over a period of time to do so, into killing the teenage residents of Springwood, hoping the mass fear will restore his powers. After all, residents of Springwood were terrorized by Freddy, not Jason, so obviously, every ounce of fear would be directed towards him, giving him more power than he'd ever hoped for. His plan works, but only to the extent of allowing his return.

Heather Langenkamp lives in Los Angeles with her husband Chase and her young son Dylan, and has become quite popular due to her role as Nancy Thompson from the Nightmare on Elm Street film series. One night, she has a nightmare in which she, Dylan and Chase are attacked by animated Krueger claws of an upcoming Nightmare film in which two of the workers are brutally murdered on set. Five years have passed since Freddy Krueger was seemingly defeated and the Walshes have moved into the Thompsons' former home. Their teenaged son, Jesse, has a nightmare about being stranded on a school bus with two girls and being stalked by a violent killer. He wakes up in terror and attributes the dream to the unusual heat in the room. Jesse goes to school with his friend Lisa, whom he is interested in romantically, but is too shy to flirt with her. After getting into a fight with a boy named Grady during gym class, Coach Schneider makes them stay after class and they eventually become friends.
