Ayesha Dharker (born 16 March 1977) is a British-Indian actress. She is known for her performance in the Tamil film The Terrorist (1997), for which she was awarded Best Artistic Contribution by an Actress at the Cairo International Film Festival and nominated for a National Film Award for Best Actress. She has also appeared in Hollywood films such as Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Outsourced and The Mistress of Spices, television series such as Arabian Nights, the West End and Broadway musical Bombay Dreams.

Ayesha Dharker est née le 16 mai 1977, à Bombay, dans l'état du Maharashtra, en Inde. Elle est la fille du chroniqueur indien Anil Dharker et d'Imtiaz Dharker, une poète et documentariste écossaise d'origine pakistanaise.


Carrière
Elle a fait ses débuts à l'écran en 1989, dans Manika, une vie plus tard, de François Villiers. Elle continue à tourner dans de nombreux films américains, français et indiens. Elle est également apparue dans plusieurs séries télévisées britanniques dont Cutting It et Life Isn't All Ha Ha Hee Hee, dans lequel elle partage la vedette avec Meera Syal.

Dans le film kollywoodien La Terroriste (1999), elle incarne Malli, une jeune membre de l'organisation indépendantiste tamoule Tigres de libération de l'Îlam tamoul au Sri Lanka. Ce rôle lui valut d'être nommée pour le Chlotrudis Award de la meilleure actrice et lauréate du prix de la meilleure contribution artistique pour une actrice au Festival international du film du Caire.

Elle atteint le sommet de la célébrité avec l'interprétation de la reine Jamillia, la reine de Naboo, dans Star Wars, épisode II : L'Attaque des clones (2002). Elle a également jouée dans le mélodrame américano-britannique The Mistress of Spices (2005), aux côtés d'Aishwarya Rai.

Elle apparaît dans l'épisode Le Chant des Oods de la série Doctor Who, dans le rôle de Solana Mercurio.
