Karthika Mathew (born Lidiya Jacob), better known mononymously as Karthika, is a Malayali film actress, who has appeared in several Malayalam and Tamil films. She is probably best known for her performances in Nam Naadu and Dindigul Sarathy. She has acted in some advertisements.

Biography

Lidiya Jacob is born to P.K Jacob and Alice. She had her primary education from Bethelhem Girls High School, Njaralloor, Kochi. She married her longtime boyfriend Merin Mathew who is a medical officer at Blue Mount Hospital in Michigan, US on May 18 2009. The couple had a son, born on July 2013.

The story revolves around an insecure teetotaler Sarathy Raman (Karunas) who feels bad due to his dark skin (his wife Karthika is fairer than him) who is often the brunt of many jokes. Because he feels inferior to his wife, he begins to suspect her of infidelity and to think that she will one day elope with a lover. After a misunderstanding, Sarathy and his mother are estranged which further weakens the bond between Sarathy and Karthika. The first few scenes themselves set the tone; first, a hesitant and bashful Venugopal (Cheran) trying desperately to carry on an interesting conversation with a prospective bride Ranjitha (Vimala Raman), in her picturesque home in Nagercoil. Maya (Kavya Madhavan), a young television reporter works for New India Television.
