Betty Blue is a 1986 French film. Its original French title is 37° 2 le matin, meaning "37.2°C in the morning". The film was directed by Jean-Jacques Beineix and stars Béatrice Dalle and Jean-Hugues Anglade. It is based on the 1985 novel of the same name by Philippe Djian. The film had 3,632,326 admissions and was the eighth highest grossing film of the year in France.
The film received both a BAFTA and Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film in 1986, as well as winning a César Award for Best Poster. In 1992 it was awarded the Golden Space Needle of the Seattle International Film Festival.
In 2005 a director's cut was issued, with about an hour of extra footage.
Synopsis
Zorg (Jean-Hugues Anglade) is a 34-year-old failed writer, now making a living as a handyman for a community of beach houses at Gruissan. He meets Betty (Béatrice Dalle), a volatile and impulsive young woman, and the two begin a passionate affair, living in his shack on the beach. After a row with him, she finds the manuscript of a novel he once wrote and decides he is a genius. However, after another argument with his boss, she empties the shack and burns it down. The two decamp to the outskirts of Paris, where her friend Lisa (Consuelo de Haviland) has a small hotel. There they find work in the pizzeria of Lisa's friend Eddy (Gérard Darmon), but a fight erupts in which Betty stabs a customer with a fork. Back at the hotel, she laboriously types out Zorg's novel and submits it to various publishers. Though Zorg hides the rejection letters she finds one and, going to the publisher's house, slashes his face. Zorg induces him to drop charges.Actors

While serving at a dinner party kitchen maid Augustine (Soko) feels her hands going numb and then has a violent fit that leaves her paralyzed in one eye. Augustine is brought to a hospital where she attracts the attention of Jean-Martin Charcot (Vincent Lindon) after she seizures in front of him. Charcot examines her while she is naked and realizes that she has lost feeling in one side of her body. He pierces her arm with a hot needle but Augustine cannot feel it. He also discovers that despite having matured physically, Augustine has never menstruated.

Five French soldiers are convicted of self-mutilation in order to escape military service during World War I. They are condemned to face near certain death in the no man's land between the French and German trench lines. Nancy, dans les années 1980. Gloria (Soko) est une ado rebelle dans une famille très stricte. Alors qu'elle se fait donner des leçons par ses parents (Nadège Prugnard et Fantazio), elle pique une crise de nerfs et elle est internée à l'hôpital psychiatrique Jeanne d'Arc de Dommartin-lès-Toul. Le psychiatre (Jean-Yves Ruf) lui reproche sa façon de s'enlaidir avec son look punk, sa façon de « se mettre en danger » et lui pose des questions intimes sur sa sexualité, auxquelles Gloria refuse de répondre. Gloria a du mal à supporter sa privation de liberté, mais sa rencontre avec Frances (Clara Ponsot), prétendument internée pour amnésie, lui donne plus de courage. Frances, très sûre d'elle et apparemment contente d'être là, commence à flirter avec elle. À sa sortie, Frances envoie plusieurs lettres d'amour enflammées à Gloria, alors que cette dernière ne lui envoie qu'une seule lettre de rupture. Quand Gloria sort finalement de l'hôpital, elle réintègre sa bande de punks et revoit Frances qui fait partie de la bande adverse de skins. Les deux tombent pourtant amoureuses l'une de l'autre et Frances suit la bande de Gloria pour quelque temps, même si elle ne s'y sent pas à l'aise. Frances finit par la quitter et Gloria part zoner seule dans la ville par dépit.
