The film has an ensemble cast consisting of Prithviraj, Jayasurya, Narain, Indrajith, Kavya Madhavan, Jagathy Sreekumar, Balachandra Menon and Radhika. The music is composed by Alex Paul with lyrics by Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma. The cinematography was by Rajeev Ravi and the editing by Ranjan Abraham. Audiograhy was done by M. R. Rajakrishnan.
The story revolves around the college graduate class of 1991. In 2006, working in different corners of the world, the friends get together for a class reunion to revive the joy and laughter of their student days. On the night of the reunion, one of the classmates is almost murdered and goes into a coma.
It is one of the biggest blockbusters in the Malayalam film industry and is frequently referenced in Keralite popular culture. The film went on to win the Kerala State Film Awards for Best Popular Film (Prakash Damodaran and P. K. Muralidharan) and Best Story (James Albert). It was later remade into Tamil as Ninaithale Inikkum, and in Telugu & Marathi as Classmates.
Synopsis
The film centres on a group of classmates who attendeded the same Chemistry class in their final year of college. Among them, Murali (Narain) is a singer and P. Sukumaran (Prithviraj) is a firebrand leader of the left-winged students union. Sukumaran's rival, Satheesan (Jayasurya), leads the opposite faction of student politics and is aided by his sidekick, Vasu (Vijeesh). Pius (Indrajith), a rich and spoiled brat of parents settled in the Gulf, is the campus Romeo and Sukumaran's best friend. Thara Kurup (Kavya Madhavan) is the daughter of the Member of the state Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Muvattupuzha; she is a danseuse who regularly wins awards for the college with her performances.Actors

The film narrates the story of "Cuba" Mukundan (Sreenivasan) . He is a staunch leftist who lives for the movement. Machinations of a corrupt politician Karunan (Guruvayoor Sivaji) who perceives Mukundan as a threat to his political career force Mukundan to take up a job in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Even in Dubai, he finds that Kunjunny Muthalaly (Jagathy Sreekumar) who was in league with Karunan is in Dubai, exploiting the helpless labourers who migrate to the Gulf performing menial jobs and physical labor in order to support their families back home. He has always had a soft corner for People's Republic of China as a result of his leftist leanings and when he meets Zhang Chu Min (Zhang Chu Min), a Chinese girl, she quickly finds a special place in his heart as she symbolizes China to him. Later even after realising that she is an anti communist and is there to make money for the treatment of her boyfriend who fought against the Chinese Government, he gives her his earnings saying a communist never keeps money more than his requirements. Mukundan, with the help of his friends Anwar, Maya, and Karim, exposes the machinations of Karunan and Kunjunny Muthalaly. Finally Mukundan returns home to work for the political cause which has been his life and love.

Dr. Ravi Tharakan (Prithviraj) is a renowned cardiothoracic surgeon working in a private hospital. Ayalum Njanum Thammil begins with a traumatised girl being brought to the hospital. Ravi decides to operate the girl for free, but much against the wish of her father. The girl dies during the surgery. Her father and a few local politicians accuses Dr. Tharakan for the death and protests in the hospital. Ravi is forced to flee through the backdoor, followed by the girl's relatives. He has an accident on the way and goes missing without any traces. The girl's death gains media attention and the police starts a thorough search for Dr. Ravi. The hospital management clears their hand by sacking Dr. Ravi but the chairman's private secretary Diya (Rima Kallingal) expresses dissatisfaction over the hospital's decision and starts a search on her own. She is very much attached to Ravi who had once convinced her the importance of following the ethics in medical profession. She meets Dr. Vivek (Narain) who is a very close friend and a former classmate of Ravi.

Josekutty (Prithviraj Sukumaran) is a hard-working auto rickshaw driver from a good family. Josekutty falls in love with Jansi, whose sister Nancy is an unwed mother of a boy. Josekutty is asked to see Nancy for an arranged marriage, and he mistakenly thinks that Jansi is Nancy, and he agrees to the marriage. Josekutty agrees to marry her. Nancy is found dead on the day before the marriage. Josekutty raises her child as his son. He tries to find out who fathered Nancy's son. An Army unit comes to a local village in Kerala because of a terror threat. The unit is led by Major Pattabhiraman (Mammootty) and commander Benny (Biju Menon). The Major sees a widow named Vimala (Tessa) singing. Vimala is living in her husband's home after his death. A village girl Satyabhama (Jyothirmayi) and Benny fall in love and elope. Pattabhiraman discovers that a terrorist has placed a bomb in a water tank. He finds the terrorist and defuses the bomb. Benny reveals to Vimala that Pattabhiraman killed her husband Nandu (Indrajith) in the war. The Major admits the fact, but claims he did it as a mercy killing because Nandu was so badly injured. Vimala forgives him and the couple happily unites.

Radhakrishnan (Dileep) is dysfunctionally brought up like a girl by his grandmother (Sukumari) who wanted a granddaughter. There by, he becomes effeminate and milquetoast. She calls him Radha, which becomes his nickname. Radha's father Divakaran (Lal) goes to jail for a murder that he accidentally commits. Radha is ridiculed among the people in the village but he is not worried and spends time with the girls singing and teaches dancing.
