Dikkatra Parvathi is a 1974 Tamil language film starring Sreekanth and Lakshmi in the lead roles. Based on a novel by the same name written by C. Rajagopalachari (Rajaji), the film was directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao. The film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil, while Lakshmi won a lot of accolades for her performance and was reported to have narrowly missed the National Film Award for Best Actress.
Synopsis
The story espouses the evils of drink, Parvathi (Lakshmi) is a happy girl just married to a very loving husband, Karuppan(Sreekanth). With kind parents-in-law and a doting husband, her life is blissful. Soon, she is blessed with a child. Karuppan wants to increase his earnings and decides to buy a cart, though Parvathi is unwilling, asserting it is happier to be contented with what they have. However Karuppan takes a loan from a money lender and buys a cart. Initially, everything looks rosy. But Karuppan happens to cross the toddy shops on his way home. Slowly, he is initiated into the habit of drink and soon becomes an addict. Parvathi’s life changes into one of hardship and woe. The neglect of Karuppan results in the death of the child. Parvathi’s life becomes tragic. Karuppan is not able to repay the loan. The money lender’s son takes advantage of increasingly abominable attitude of her husband. Parvathi helplessly gives in to the approaches of the moneylender’s son. Coming to know about this, Karuppan throws a scythe at the moneylender’s son, which nearly kills him. Karuppan is arrested. Parvathi is rejected by her kith and kin. Alone she struggles to get her husband released. On the advice of a lawyer she makes a statement in the court that she is guilty, thinking it will facilitate the release of her husband.Actors

A rich industrialist, Venugopal(R.N. Krishna) marries a woman, Sushila(Jayabharathi) and they have quadruplets. His brother, Nandagopal(R.N. Betty (Marie Trintignant), a young alcoholic woman, is caught cold while cheating on her bourgeois husband. Wasting no time, he and his family arrange a quick divorce settlement, ousting her from home and keeping her away from the two children the couple have. One night she ends up in a restaurant called Le Trou (The Hole), where she meets Laure (Stéphane Audran), an older woman, an alcoholic herself. Betty receives care and friendship from Laure, who's in a relationship with Mario (Jean-Francois Garreaud), the restaurant's owner. The envy toward Laure for Mario grows each day and will drive Betty to artfully contrive the means to conquer her new friend's lover. Laure realizes she has made a mistake by trusting her new friend and things soon begin to tremble between them. Betty's true colors are now visible and she sees her life at a point of no return, as she selfishly stomped on the last chance she had been given to be a better person.

Après cinq ans d'emprisonnement dans un établissement pénitentiaire de Marseille, Corey (Alain Delon) est sur le point d'être libéré. Dans une salle de billard, Corey saisit une queue et, à l'aide d'une craie rouge, trace avec son procédé (l'embout de la queue qui sert à frapper les boules) un cercle qu'il remplit ensuite, avant de disperser les boules. Les hommes de Rico le rejoignent et l'entretien se termine dans le sang. Mais Corey en repart indemne. Il achète une voiture d'occasion remarquée dans la vitrine d'un revendeur automobile et entreprend de regagner son domicile du 16e arrondissement de Paris.

The film follows Tommy Basilio (Buscemi), an alcoholic and fixture at the local bar, Trees Lounge, who begins to float after losing his girlfriend of eight years Theresa (Elizabeth Bracco) and his job as a mechanic. His Uncle Al (Seymour Cassel) dies at the wheel of his ice-cream truck while out on his rounds and at the wake following his funeral he indulges in lines of cocaine with his brother and cousins. Tommy takes them to the Trees Lounge to carry on drinking, where a drunken brawl breaks out between his cousin and one of the regulars, Mike (Mark Boone Junior). In the next scene Mike and Tommy are driving away from a late night convenience store after buying more beer. They are discussing how Tommy stole money from Rob (Anthony LaPaglia), the owner of the garage where he lost his job. They discuss how Rob is seeing Tommy's ex-girlfriend who is pregnant and Tommy might be the father but she is telling Rob otherwise.
