Synopsis
Jack est un garçon d'une dizaine d'années qui vit à Berlin. Il n'a pas connu son père et a un demi-frère, Manuel, âgé de 6 ans, d'un autre père, lui aussi absent. Leur mère, Sanna, qui travaille épisodiquement dans le milieu musical underground est plutôt immature et volage, peu apte à gérer cette famille décomposée. Jack, débrouillard et obstiné, est finalement le plus lucide de la maison, prenant en charge les tâches courantes car sa mère est très souvent absente.Actors

Oskar, a meek 12-year-old boy, resides with his mother Yvonne in the western Stockholm suburb of Blackeberg in 1981 and occasionally visits his father Erik in the countryside. It is not clear why Erik is living apart from Yvonne, but on one such visit, when Oskar and Erik are enjoying a cosy night playing games, a drunken neighbour arrives and Erik starts to drink heavily with him, breaking up the cosy father/son evening. Oskar collects clippings from newspapers and magazines about grisly murders and pictures of hunting knives. He keeps a knife under his mattress.

A young, naive boy named Billy Forrester (Luke Benward) has a weak stomach and vomits easily. Lester Dwervick (Tim Young) has always been sort of different. The sickly teen is too shy to make friends, and lives in a trailer park. Because of these reasons, his classmates and teacher view him as a "white trash outcast". To make matters worse, Lester's mother is an alcoholic tramp who often brings home drunken men from the local bars. Lester has nobody to confide in, and often draws and sculpts birds and other animals to keep him hopeful of the future. One day, he is being savagely tormented by a local bully when Sheriff Patterson's (Richard Elfman) daughter Judie (Tiffany Shepis) sticks up for him. Thinking he has finally found a friend, Lester begins to feel happy for the first time in years and begins to draw pictures for her. One night, Lester goes to find Judie to ask her if she wants to be his girlfriend. Before he even has a chance to ask her, he sees his worst bully drunkenly kiss her. Judie sees Lester, who is running away in grief. Knowing there's nothing left for him anymore, the pressure of it all finally mounts and Lester swirls into a jealous rage and screams at his mother's latest boyfriend. He chases Lester into the cornfields outside his home and viciously strangles him to death then hangs him, making it look like a suicide, leaving his corpse near a scarecrow.

1944. Quelque part au bord du Danube. Des enfants, victimes de drames terribles, surgissent d'un peu partout. Ils maraudent pour vivre et mènent une existence à moitié sauvage, craignant autant leurs semblables que les adultes... Ils forment, petit à petit, une bande de "pillards" régie par la loi du plus fort. Les paysans les chassent à coup de fusil, les forces de l'ordre essayent de les maîtriser.
