It is about a shy, timid, and introverted Sivasubrahmania Hariramachandran (Sukumaran) who falls head over heels for the petite and spunky Saritha (Madhavi), regardless of an age difference of 14 years. The film was the directional debut of Sathyan Anthikad. It was written by Dr. P. Balakrishnan.

Synopsis
Sivasubrahmania is 32 year-old, simple but shy man who still hasn't got over a rejection from his childhood, and is an unhappy bachelor.Desperate to break away from an overbearing and spiritually inclined father, he escapes to another town along with his best friend Kumar. He falls in love with Saritha, their new neighbor, 14 years junior than him. Saritha also happens to be his boss's daughter's best friend, who also stays in the same building.Actors

Unni (Nedumudi Venu) and Sethu (Sukumaran) are two bachelor friends staying together in Chennai. Though irritating at sometimes, with his music talents, the house owner Varma (Jagathi Sreekumar), a music director is always ready to financially support them at times. One day, Unni gets a letter from his father, asking him to receive Radha (Poornima Jayaram), daughter of his friend who will be arriving at Chennai to join at a company for a job. At railway station, both Unni and Sethu fall for her and both try all methods to woo her. Radha is accommodated at the house of Mary (Sukumari), a colleague of theirs, who is also a sister-like figure for them. As she approached late after the joining date, Radha is denied the job. Sethu introduces her to V.N Nair (Sankaradi), his manager, also a womanizer and gets her a job at his company. This creates a friction in the friendship between Unni and Sethu. Both, but fails to express their feelings to her, instead fight each other bitterly over issues, leading even to physically attacking each other. One day Radha introduces them to Balachandran (Mammootty), whom she addresses as her fiancé and asks them both to attend her wedding without fail. Realizing their foolishness, Sethu and Unni patches up and reaches back home happily. But at home, Sethu gets a letter from his father informing the arrival of daughter of one of his friend in Chennai. As both rushes to railway station to pick her up, the cards starts rolling.

Kumaran (Thilakan) is a social worker. Captain Vijay (Mohanlal) is an army captain who is on his annual leave and has come to stay with his maternal uncle who raised him and his sister after the untimely death of their parents. In a turn of events Vijay sees Kumaran injured from an accident and crying for help. He takes Kumaran to a hospital but could not save his life. There develops a strong bond between Kumaran and Vijay which pulls him into finding out the accident was a preplanned murder.

Vinayan comes from a rich family but he cannot stand up for modern lifestyle. His brother spends time dancing at clubs, his sister always listens to the radio, and his parents are always busy. Bhaskaran(Sreenivasan), the local village goldsmith is in love with Snehalatha(Urvashi), the daughter of P.V.Panicker(Innocent), the local astrologer. They are neighbors. Uthup requests Sidharthan to meet her and assist her. Sidharthan unwillingly went but when Irene promises ₹2000 per day for the assistant, so Siddharthan, who has financial issues, agrees to help her.

Seetha is from an aristocratic family and is in love with her cousin Vishnu. Seetha's father Kesava Kuruppu forbids her to prolong this affair as he wanted his daughter not to marry a man from a lower caste. Seetha gets married to a bank employee much against her wish. By the time the couple understand and like each other Seetha loses her husband in a road mishap. Kuruppu, the determined man he is, arranges her next marriage with Narayanan, a widower, who already had two children from his first marriage. Seetha had to agree and gets married to Narayanan. She makes herself happy by spending time with Narayanan's children. After a few days, her husband, who was a heart patient, dies. She had to leave that house after being harassed by Narayanan's annoying sister. She manages to get a shelter in a maid servant's house. Her father came to know this and realises his false deeds. In the climax, Vishnu gets married to Seetha.
