Malappuram Haji Mahanaya Joji (English:Malappuram Haji who is Joji, the great) is a 1994 Malayalam comedy film directed by Thulasidas, and starring Mukesh, Jagathy Sreekumar, Siddique, Madu and Maathu.

Synopsis

Kunjalikutty (Siddique) gets a visa to Dubai and a job offer at his Dad's friend's (Madhu) school in Malappuram at the same time. His dad refuses to let him go to Dubai and wants him to take the teaching job. So he sends his friend Joji (Mukesh) as himself to the school and goes to Dubai without his parents knowing. This leads to hilarious situations as Joji could not reveal his identity to keep his job secure.

In California, the Republican party governor candidate John Kory (Sean James Sutton) is striving to raise his dismal ratings. Sunny Kurishingal (Vijay Babu), the chief campaign officer of John Kory, is failing with his campaign strategies and runs out of ideas to ensure Kory's victory. Sunny is forced to consult a third person's advise and calls Francis Kunjappan (Mukesh), a PWD minister and his native friend in Kerala, for hiring any good political consultant for devising campaign strategies. Kunjappan, initially reluctant, later recommends his friend and political competitor Jagannathan (Mohanlal), thus also hoping to get rid of him as he is a political threat to his ministerial position. Jagannathan, a young politician and a sports enthusiastic, is illiterate in English but has an inborn talent to solve the gravest of issues in the most prudent manner. Even Francis had consulted him for solving his toughest problems. But Francis thinks that Jaganathan’s unorthodox ideas will fail miserably in the US. Kunjappan meets Jagannathan and offers him the job and a remuneration of ₹30 crores which is sufficient to raise Jagannathan's dream project, a sports academy in Kerala. Jagannathan takes up the assignment and flies to the US, together with his assistants Pottakuzhi Jabbar (Baburaj) and Vayalar Varkey (Aju Varghese).

The film starts by displaying an antic of Keshavan (Thilakan) who is an inmate of the Kakkanad Mental Hospital. Two other inmates are Benny (Mukesh) and Krishnankutty (Jagathy Sreekumar), along with the female inmate played by Philomena. The late Hakeem Rawther too plays as an inmate in a cameo role. By profession Benny is an artist, Krishnankutty is an auto-mechanic and Keshavan had retired from military service. The trio chance to come across a newspaper report that the Hindi film star Amitabh Bachchan is visiting Ernakulam City for film shooting, which is near the place they stay. They are soon joined by Venu (Siddique), acting as the brother of Balan (N.N.Balakrishnan) who takes him to the mental hospital. Venu is a good singer but suffers from a compulsive obsession to singing.
