Pelli Chesi Choodu is a 1952 Telugu Drama film directed by L. V. Prasad and produced by Nagireddy and Chakrapani of Vijaya Pictures. This Silver Jubilee Comedy film is based on the social problem Dowry. It was simultaneous made in Tamil as Kalyanam Panni Paar. L. V. Prasad produced and directed the film in Hindi language as Shaadi Ke Baad (1972) starring Jitendra and Raakhee.

Synopsis

Govindaiah (Doraiswamy), a pleader gumasta wants Raja to marry Chitti. She, however, loves an endearing bodybuilder to whom by traditional obligations, she rightfully belongs. Govindaiah makes Raja's marriage to Chitti on the precondition for helping to find a husband for Raja's sister Ammadu (Varalakshmi). Raja rejects the deal and, with his younger brother, sets out to find a groom for Ammadu.

Changayya (Subba Rao) is a wealthy Sowkar (businessman) whose son Satyam (N.T. Rama Rao) is studying in the city. His neighbour is Ramayya (Srivatsa). Changayya is affectionate towards his daughter Subbulu (Janaki) and wants to make her his daughter-in-law. Satyam also likes this idea. But due to some conflict in the village courtesy Bangarayya, Ramayya provides the police witness against Changayya citing his hand present in the messy affair. The two families are thereafter estranged. They start off with petty fights, getting worse every day culminating with Satyam and Ramayya's son Narayana (Sivaram) ending up in jail after being framed. The local goonda Sunnapu Rangadu (S.V. Ranga Rao) plans to rob Changayya's place, but his plans are spoiled by Subbulu and Ramayya. Both the families end their differences, and become friendly once again. At the end, Satyam and Subbulu marry and live happily.

Raghu (N T Ramarao) is a government clerk lives who lives happily with his wife Manjula (Laxmirajyam) and two children. His mother Venkamma (Suryakantham), sister Kamakshi (Balasaraswathi) and her husband (Venkatramiah) live on his salary. Venkamma appropriates his earnings and Kamakshi plots to have Manujala blamed for all that goes wrong in the household. Raghu, unable to face the problems, abandons his family. Manjula has to work as a housemaid, and the children must beg on the streets. His brother Venu (ANR) lives in the village. He comes to the city, tracks down Raghu, and finds him a job. He is teased by Kamala (Pushpalata) and falls in love. He opens up the secret agenda of his mother and sister and finally joins the happy family.
