The film stars Dulquer Salmaan, and Thilakan in the lead roles, along with Siddique, Mamukkoya, Nithya Menen and Lena Abhilash in supporting roles, and Asif Ali and Jishnu in cameo roles. Ustad Hotel was one of Thilakan's last films, which was released a few months before he died.
The film is about a young man named Faizal (known as Feyzee), who studies in Switzerland as a chef against his rich father's wishes. As the relation between father and son deteriorates, Feyzee is forced to work as a cook in a restaurant at Kozhikode (Calicut) run by his grandfather Karim. A strong bond develops between Karim, an elderly Sufi Muslim, and his educated grandson who eventually decides to work permanently in the restaurant. The film also discusses issues of poverty, underprivilege and tensions between rich and poor in India. Food and its nuances becomes a central character in the film.
Ustad Hotel was named number-one in the list of "Top 10 Malayalam films of 2012" compiled by Oneindia.in. The film won three National Film Awards: the film won the award for Best Popular Film while Anjali Menon won the award for Best Dialogues and Thilakan got a Special Mention.
Synopsis
Abdul Razaq (Siddique) and Fareeda (Praveena), a Muslim couple in Kerala, are expecting their first child. Razaq wants the child to be a boy, and wants to name the child Faizal and call him Faizi, but to his disappointment, the child is a girl. Fareeda gives birth continuously to three more girls, which irritates Abdul Razaq, who migrates to Dubai. Finally, Fareeda gives birth to a boy, but because of her continuous deliveries, Fareeda becomes ill and dies. Abdul Razaq takes his five children to Dubai. Faizi is looked after by his sisters whom he affectionately calls "Ithathas & Company" (Sisters and Company).Actors

Kalabha Mazha tells the friendly relationship between a Hindu and a Muslim family. Madhava Menon (Thilakan) who worked in the All India Radio always respects other religions and works for the upliftment of the society. Malavika (Devika) is the eldest daughter of Madhava Menon. She is betrothed to Unnikrishnan (Krishna). She is more than a sister to her two younger siblings, since their mother had died when they were quite young. Her brother on the other hand, takes up a job at a local bank, and finds himself having transformed into a goon. Later, Malavika bumps into her sister's absconding lover, and almost meets with the same fate in his hands.

Rock N' Roll tells the story of Chandramouli (Mohanlal), a composer and drummer, of his return to Chennai from South Africa for a brief visit, and of the incidents happening in that short span. Gunasekharan (Siddique), a leading music composer, is busy with his composition for the latest film directed by Lal Jose. He feels, it would be better, if he gets the help of his old friend Chandramouli, who is now busy with his international concerts. But Mouli, a fun loving and jovial musician, makes a surprise landing in Chennai and helps Guna in his work. Mouli accidentally falls in love with Daya Sreenivasan (Lakshmi Rai), the female playback singer, who is also an ardent fan of Mouli. But because of the compulsions from her parents and fiancé, Vivek (Anoop Menon), she moves back to Mumbai. Mouli plots a plan with his friend Thabala Balu (Harisree Ashokan) to bring her back to Chennai. He makes Daya believe that he is now composing a dozen songs for a film and wants Daya to sing it. Daya, who comes back to Chennai, is not impressed by Mouli's tunes. When she openly expresses her unhappiness over the tune, Mouli takes it as a prestige issue and composes a song entirely dedicated to her. However, Daya is unable to attend the studio on that particular date as she is getting married to Vivek, whom she feels is too arrogant and sophisticated for her. Mouli enters the marriage venue and takes Daya to the studio for 30 minutes despite the opposition from her family members. Daya, who within time is fully in love with Mouli, realizes his love for her and opens her mind to him. The film ends with Mouli relaxing at a beach with Daya, but his old habits of carefree nature and passion for girls still not gone.

Royal Circus, owned by Govindan (T S Raju), is on rocks. With the help of his manager Khader (Mamukkoya), Govindan just manages to run the company, though not in a satisfactory manner. All the members of the troupe live as a family, sharing intimate bonds of love and camaraderie. Abookka (Bahadoor), once a clown, has turned insane. And of course Babu, deep in his heart, has feelings of love for Kamala.The movie takes a turn when Sudheer Misra (Nishanth Sagar), the young son of Padmini (Reena), a former member of the troupe makes his entry into the camp. Sudheer's arrival marks the beginnings of change. He steers the company out of its crisis and gives it a new form and name as New Royal Circus.
