Subbalakshmi is an Indian actress in Malayalam movies. She is one of the prominent supporting actress currently handling grand mother roles in Malayalam movies. She is noted for her performance in Kalyanaraman (2002) , Pandippada (2005) and Nandanam (2002). Her daughter Thara Kalyan is also an actress in Malayalam movies.

Biography

She was married to Kalyanakrishnan. The couple had a daughter, Thara Kalyan. She was a music and dance Instructor at Jwahar Balabhavan. She also worked at All India Radio before coming to movies.

The lead character Raman (Dileep), is an employee in a rice mill in Pune. He used to carry the rice to the mill for processing on a bicycle. Later he decides to buy an auto rickshaw and goes to his village to collect the money that his parents invested in his name in a post office in his hometown 30 years ago. One way to his hometown by train, he befriends a girl krishnendu, who happen's to be his father's arch enemy's daughter. Once he reaches his village he ends up in his father's rivals (krishnendu's) home and later comes to know that they are awaiting to kill him. Raman takes advantage of a tradition of their house that not even one drop of blood should fall inside the house to keep himself alive. Whether or not he comes alive forms rest of the plot of the movie.

The story takes place in a remote village where the majority of the people are Christians. Solomon (Dileep), the son of GeeVarghese sexton (Vijayaraghavan), a simple soul who is quiet in nature and fears virtually everything around, thus earning the nickname Kunjaadu (little lamb). His mother, Mary (Vinaya Prasad),was Ittichan's (Innocent) (a rich landlord) crush. He named his daughter Mary (Bhavana) after Solomon's mother. He wanted Solomon to love his daughter dearly and then he would marry her to some other person so that he gets to know the pain that he felt when he lost his lover. He promises the church that he will give another cross made out of gold to the church if Solomon marries some other girl but if he wants to marry his daughter then Solomon must give a cross to church. Mary (Bhavana) has been in love with Solomon right from their childhood days. Meanwhile, a man (Biju Menon) with rugged looks comes to Solomon's house and Solomon, who is overjoyed at getting some fearless company, gets the man accepted by his whole family under the guise that he is his long-lost brother Jose. He does so much for the family and gets involved in agriculture and develops the families living. Later, Solomon finds that there is more to his so-called brother than he thought initially,where he has killed a girl and was imprisoned for 7 years. Finally he finds that Jose has stolen the cross and hid it in Solomon's land 7 years ago and came again to take it. Solomon warns his family that even if is their brother, he should be watched or else he'll burn down the house. Their parents don't take it seriouly but later when the family is away, Jose burns the house down and everyone thinks it is Solomon who did it. Solomon later finds out that Jose's old friend who also wants the golden cross was the one who killed the girl, who was Jose's wife. A fight occurs between Solomon and both the thieves. Jose's friend get smashed down and rings the church bell telling that he got cross and saves Jose by telling that he was the one who help him capture the thief, and because Solomon always considered him as a brother. everyone becomes happy and Ittichan gives his daughter's hand to Solomon.
